Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Incidents
Criminal trespass reported to sheriff’s office
The following incidents
were recently reported to
the Barrow County Sher
iff’s Office:
•theft by taking and
criminal trespass at an
Old Victron School Road,
Hoschton, residence, where
a woman reported the
theft of a 2007 Transhaul
enclosed trailer valued at
$8,000. The complainant
said she wasn't aware the
trailer had been taken from
a metal building in her back
yard until she received a
call from an officer with the
Braselton Police Depart
ment informing her that the
trailer had been recovered
on the side of Interstate 85.
•criminal trespass at a
Boss Hardy Road, Auburn,
residence, where a domes
tic dispute was reported
between a woman and
her ex-husband. The com
plainant reported the male
arrived and broke the win
dow on the door. The male
stated he was moving his
belongings off the property,
as he could not get along
with his ex-wife.
•theft by taking at a
Whispering Pines Road,
Winder, residence, where a
man reported another male,
that he hired from Craigslist
to assist with lawn care ser
vice, took a Stihl power saw
valued at $700 and left the
location in a vehicle that he
arrived in with another male
and a female.
•terroristic threats and
acts at an Atlanta Highway
SE, Statham. residence. The
female complainant said
her juvenile son and some
of his friends were playing
across the street adjacent
to a neighboring residence
and her son said the neigh
boring resident approached
the juveniles and “began
screaming at them to leave
her yard,” and then stated
“I’ll go get my gun.”
•driving without a valid
driver's license, speeding
and outstanding arrest war
rant on University Parkway
at Kilcrease Road, Auburn,
where a traffic stop was
conducted on the driver of
a 2004 Cadillac Escalade
who was going 84 mph in a
65-mph speed zone.
•forgery at a Manning
Gin Road, Bethlehem, res
idence. A woman said her
bank contacted her about a
check on personal account
for $1,100 that she did not
sign. The woman said the
handwriting on the check
was not hers, but he pro
vided a name of the person
who signed the check. She
said the male had forged
checks in her name several
times in the past.
•duty to notify upon
striking unattended vehicle
at Walmart. Atlanta High
way NW, Winder, where a
woman reported someone
struck her 2014 Mitsubi
shi Outlander while it was
parked in the parking lot at
this location, causing dam
age to the passenger side
quarter panel.
•driving without a valid
driver's license and failure
to obey a traffic control
device on Bo Parker Drive,
Winder, where a traffic stop
was initiated on the driver
of a 2002 Chevrolet Trail-
blazer who ran the red light
at Rockwell Church Road
and SR 211 NW.
•burglary and theft by
taking at Mosaic Clubs and
Resort/Pan Pacific, Bar
ber Creek Road, Statham.
where a representative
reported someone entered
the property and stole an
E-Z Go golf cart valued
at $8,000, a Millermatic
mig-welder valued at $800
and an 18-foot trailer val
ued at $10,000.
•no insurance on Bank-
head Highway, Winder,
where the driver of a 1996
Chevrolet Cavalier was
stopped for not wearing a
seatbelt.
•damage to property on
Highway 211 NW at Char
lie Hall Road, Hoschton.
A woman reported an
unknown object fell off or
came off a passing vehicle
and struck the front bumper
of her 2008 Dodge Caravan
causing damage to the front
bumper.
•terroristic threats and
acts at a Highway 82,
Winder, residence, where
a domestic dispute was
reported between a woman
and her son. The female said
her son stated “he would
bum her house down” and
was yelling expletives at
her after she confronted him
about items that she found
on her property that didn't
belong to her, or her son.
•domestic dispute at
a Castle Gibson Road,
Hoschton, residence,
between a husband and
wife. The wife stated her
husband was being verbally
abusive and had told her
he “99 percent did not love
her anymore” and that upset
her.
•hit and run; duty of the
driver to stop at or return to
the scene of an accident on
Harrison Mill Road, Wind
er, where a man reported
that his female neighbor
intentionally swerved the
2003 Ford Expedition she
was driving at him and
struck the golf cart he was
driving along his driveway,
by sideswiping it.
•outstanding arrest war
rant at a Harrison Mill
Road, Winder, location,
where a man was located
standing in a ditch next to
a scooter talking on a cell
phone.
•giving a false name,
address or birthdate to a
law enforcement officer
and probation violation at a
Thom Brook Ridge. Beth
lehem, residence, where a
suicide attempt was report
ed.
•driving while driver’s
license is suspended or
revoked on Atlanta High
way SE at Jackson Trail
Road, Winder, where the
driver of a 2003 GMC
Envoy was stopped on the
side of the road, partially
in the roadway, with the
hazard lights on.
•knowingly driving a
motor vehicle on a suspend
ed, cancelled or revoked
registration and no insur
ance on Atlanta Highway
SE., Winder, where the
driver of a 2012 Buick Ver-
ano was stopped for not
having a license plate on the
vehicle.
•seat belt violations, fail
ure to obey a stop sign or
yield after stopping, failure
to yield to an emergency
vehicle, fleeing or attempt
ing to elude a law enforce
ment officer for a felony
offense, reckless driving,
willful obstruction of law
enforcement officers, driv
ing while driver's license
is suspended or revoked,
failure to register a vehi
cle, removing/affixing a
tag with the intent to con
ceal the identity of a vehi
cle, receipt, possession or
transfer of a firearm by a
convicted felon or felony
first offender, possession
of methamphetamine and
possession of marijuana
on Atlanta Highway NW
at Matthews School Road,
Winder, where officers
attempted to conduct a traf
fic stop on the driver of a
Chevrolet track that ran a
stop sign.
•failure to report an acci
dent with injury/death at
Walmart on Atlanta High
way NW, Winder, where
a 2012 Chrysler Town &
Country mini-van was dis
covered. It appeared the
driver of the vehicle was
traveling through the park
ing lot not paying attention
to the direction of travel and
went over a triangular grass
section bordered by a curb
and then ran directly into a
tree, causing “fairly exten
sive damage” to the vehicle.
No one was in or around the
wrecked van.
•burglary at Barrow
Mini-Warehouse, Atlan
ta Highway SE, Wind
er, where a man reported
someone had broken the
lock off his storage unit.
•theft of lost or mislaid
property at the Barrow
County Courthouse, Bar-
row Park Drive, Winder,
where a man reported the
theft of keys to his 2009
BMW.
•discharge of a weapon
on or near a public highway
or street on Kirkland Circle.
Statham, where a woman
reported a hole in her pool
and a spent bullet on the
bottom of the pool. It was
determined that a neigh
bor reportedly accidentally
discharged a firearm that
apparently struck the neigh
bor's pool.
•harassment at aTreemont
Way, Winder, residence,
where a woman reported
her ex-daughter-in-law was
sending her harassing text
message and would not stop
after being told to do so.
•speeding and violation
of a limited driving permit
on University Parkway at
Craft Road, Statham. where
the driver of a 2006 Mazda
6 was stopped for speeding
92 mph in a 65-mph speed
zone.
•criminal trespass at a
Lokey’s Ridge Road, Beth
lehem, residence, where
a dispute was reported
between roommates.
•financial transaction
card fraud at a Manning
Gin Road, Bethlehem, res
idence, where a woman
reported a male had been
using her American Express
card to make unauthorized
purchases that totaled over
$1,880.
•criminal trespass at a
Highway 82, Winder, res
idence, where a woman
reported damage caused to
her fence by her daugh
ter and her daughter’s girl
friend, after she made the
two move out of her resi
dence.
Winder Police Department Incidents
Forgery, theft by taking reported to Winder police
The following recent inci
dents required the response
of the Winder Police Depart
ment:
•theft by taking at a Buena
Yista Street residence. The
male homeowner at this
residence said over the past
week or so he had had three
different contractors in and
out of his house while he was
both at home and not home.
He said during this time his
Smith and Wesson MP Sport
AR 15 gun was stolen from
the case it was kept in in his
basement.
•forgery of a financial card
at a Third Avenue residence,
where a woman reported her
bank account had been com
promised and several unau
thorized charges had been
made since July of 2016.
•outstanding arrest war
rant and no insurance on
Loganville Highway, where
a traffic stop was initiated on
the driver of a 2013 Chrysler
200.
•driving without a valid
driver's license and brake
lights violation at Brook-
wood Townhomes on 2nd
Street, where the driver of a
1992 Nissan pick-up track
was stopped for inoperable
brake lights.
•theft by taking at a Wind
er Woods, 2nd Street, resi
dence, where a man reported
the theft of a bicycle from his
back porch.
•theft by shoplifting at
Dollar General on West Ath
ens Street, where a woman
reportedly selected sever
al items and attempted to
leave the store without pay
ing. However, an employ
ee stated she confronted the
woman and she left the mer
chandise and fled away from
the store towards the nearby
railroad tracks.
•willful obstruction of law
enforcement officers, giv
ing a false name, address or
birthdate to a law enforce
ment officer, possession
of marijuana and posses
sion and use of drug-relat
ed objects on North Broad
Street, where suspicious
activity was reported. When
officers arrived they found
a 31-year-old male and a
31-year-old female waiting
at a 2000 Toyota Corolla
behind the fire station. When
being questioned about what
they were doing at the fire
department, the female said
“they were not from around
Winder and had made a
wrong turn onto Williamson
Street.” She stated two black
males got out of a black
Honda driven by a Hispanic
female and blocked the road
in front of them. She said
the men demanded money
to let them pass. She said
they “took $40 in cash then
ran off into a field behind the
houses on Williamson.”
•driving under the influ
ence (DUI) of drugs, reck
less driving, improper lane
change/failure to maintain
lane and texting while driv
ing on North Broad Street,
where the driver of a 2002
Chevrolet Tahoe was possi
bly driving while intoxicat
ed. The vehicle was stopped
after a “Be on Lookout”
(BOLO) was issued with the
vehicle description.
•DUI - alcohol, reckless
driving, speeding and open
container violation at the
Jet Market on South Broad
Street, where the driver of
a 1998 Saturn was stopped
for traveling 63 mph in a
45-mph speed zone.
•keeping a disorderly
house at a Georgia Avenue
residence, where a domes
tic dispute was reported
between a man and his wife,
again. The responding offi
cer reported 64 calls for ser
vice through dispatch since
August 2015, and 15 this
year.
•public drunkenness at a
West Stephens Street loca
tion. where an unconscious
person “laying in the road
way” was located on the
right side of the eastbound
lane of travel.
•suspicious activity at the
Phillips 66 on North Broad
Street, where the clerk
reported being advised by a
customer that a man was in
the parking lot attempting
to sell items to the custom
ers. The clerk said he went
outside and found a paint
sprayer and a blower, that did
not belong to the store, at the
front comer of the building,
and he suspected the items
were stolen.
•possession of marijuana
and probation violation at a
West Williams Street resi
dence, where a noise com
plaint was reported.
•theft by taking at
Parkridge on 2nd Street,
where a woman reported the
theft of her purse.
•criminal trespass at Light
house Estates on Oceanliner
Drive, where a domestic dis
pute was reported between a
woman and her boyfriend.
•theft by taking at a Mar
tin Luther King Jr. Drive
residence, where a woman
reported being attacked by
a man she was in a rela
tionship with. She said after
he knocked her to the floor
and stomped on her face she
crawled to the bathroom and
locked herself inside. She
said while she was locked
in the bathroom the male
stole her purse that contained
keys, debit card, $14 cash,
two cell phone, two wallets
and ID, and a bag of her
clothes and then left the res
idence.
•driving without a valid
driver’s license at Taco Bell
on East May Street, where a
traffic stop was initiated on
the driver of a 2002 Cadillac
DeVille.
•no insurance and expired
license plate at Taco Bell on
East May Street, where a
traffic stop was conducted on
the driver of a 2005 Toyota
Tacoma.
•suspicious activity at a
Baskins Circle residence,
where a dispute was report
ed. The male complainant
reported a male, driving a
Dodge pick-up track that
had previously been reported
for driving by his residence
making the hand gesture of
“giving the middle finger.”
returned and stopped in front
of his driveway to harass
him.
•criminal trespass at a Fair-
view Court residence, where
a man reported 10-12 male
juveniles knocked down part
of his fence in order to get
through his back yard.
•simple assault - Fam
ily Violence Act (FVA) at
a Bellview Street residence,
where a domestic dispute
was reported between a
woman and her husband.
•public drunkenness
and willful obstruction of
law enforcement officers
at Sonic on South Center
Street where a suspicious
person was reported. The
complainant stated a male,
who appeared to be intoxi
cated, was walking through
the parking lot asking for
rides.
•criminal damage to prop
erty. burglary and theft by
taking at the Lion Club on
East Broad Street, where
a man reported someone
had forced open the front
door on the “Tee Ball shed”
on the top level and stole
five 8x10 plastic tarps. The
complainant said an attempt
was made to force open the
double metal doors on the
ground-level shed where the
lawn equipment was stored,
causing damage to the doors
and hinges. Damage was
also reported in the men’s
and women’s bathrooms.
•criminal trespass at
Hardigree Terrace on Hor
ton Street, where a woman
reported the playground had
been vandalized with spray
paint.
•driving without a valid
driver’s license on West Ath
ens Street, where the driver
of a 1999 Ford Taurus was
stopped for “driving reck
lessly.”
•theft by taking at an East
Wright Street residence,
where a man reported the
theft of three Honda dirt
bikes from his front yard.
•outstanding arrest war
rant at a Capitol Avenue res
idence.
•driving while driver's
license is suspended or
revoked on North Broad
Street, where a traffic stop
was initiated on the driver of
a 1999 Lincoln.
•entering an automo
bile or other motor vehicle
with the intent to commit
a theft or other felony at
Langford’s Coin Laundry
on East May Street, where
a woman reported the theft
of her purse from her 1996
Dodge Ram truck parked at
this location.
•criminal damage to prop
erty at a Capitol Avenue
residence, where a woman
reported someone shattered
the front windshield on her
2008 Honda Accord while it
was parked at this location.
•outstanding arrest war
rant at a Turtle Creek Drive
residence.
