Local teams
qualify for
Co-Ed cheer
finals Friday
Both the Apalachee and Winder-Barrow High School
competitive cheerleading squads will be competing Friday
night in the GHSA Co-Ed state finals at the Civic Center
in Columbus.
Both teams finished in the top 16 of last weekend's sec

Apalachee finished fourth in the sectionals while Wind

The Co-Ed competition will begin at 7 p.m., and both
schools are scheduled to take the floor and perform after a
15-minute intermission dividing the event.
Both schools have enjoyed plenty of success in Colum
bus before.
Winder-Barrow, a perennial power, has won six state
championships, taking home the Class AAA crown in
1996 and 1997, the AAAA title in 2003 and Co-Ed cham
pionships in 2005, 2011 and 2014 under coach Courtney
Sosebee.
Apalachee, meanwhile, won the AA title in 2002.
