Winder Police Department Incidents
Truck strikes drive-thru
awning at McDonald’s
The following incidents were reported recently to the
Winder Police Department:
•damage to property at McDonald’s on North Broad
Street, where the manager reported damage to the awning
over the drive-thru menu. The manager said a truck
attempted to go through, but was too tall and it struck the
awning.
•theft by taking at a Cooper Circle residence, where a
man reported the theft of his son’s bicycle from his front
yard.
•forgery at Carmike Cinemas, Exchange Boulevard,
Bethlehem, where a man reportedly paid for a movie tick
et with a counterfeit $100 bill.
•damage to a patrol vehicle at the Winder Fire Depart
ment, North Broad Street. The officer stated he struck a
stump with his 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle.
•outstanding arrest warrant at Winder Police Depart
ment. East Midland Avenue.
•giving a false name, address or birthdate to a law
enforcement officer, outstanding arrest warrant, expired
license plate and failure to obey a stop sign or yield after
stopping on Maynard Street, where a traffic stop was ini
tiated on the driver of a 2003 Ford Explorer.
•found debit card at Peach State Federal Credit Union
on North Broad Street. A woman reported finding a debit
card at the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM).
•outstanding arrest warrant at Cash American Pawn.
South Broad Street, where a traffic stop was initiated on
the driver of a 2006 BMW that had an illegal tinted license
plate cover.
•theft by taking at a Windward Road residence, where
a man reported he had lost or someone had stolen the
license plate off of his motorcycle,
•outstanding arrest warrant at a Buena Vista Street resi
dence, where a dispute was reported regarding an eviction.
•burglary at an Idlewood Road residence, where a man
reported someone had entered his residence he was in the
process of remodeling and stole an air compressor, air
hose, two nail guns and an impact driver.
•damage to property/throwing rocks, other missies at a
Lily Drive location, where a man reported that someone
threw an egg at the side of his 2009 Ford Econoline van.
•criminal trespass at Mike’s Gun Room on West Athens
Street, where a man reported several phone/electrical-type

Carrie Foster, one of the
people who spoke, said Lof
ton tased her husband three
times for asking why she was
being arrested.
She said she was one of
the people who had “clean”
results from the toxicology
screening.
Nearly all of those who
spoke accused Lofton of
“lying” on the reports he
wrote about the arrests.
He was accused of peijury,
false arrests, malicious prose
cution and violations of civil
rights.
At least three of those who
spoke mentioned specific
costs to them for bonds, tow
ing of cars, attorney fees and
implied they would sue the
city.
Kendra Moore, the last to
speak and a Statham resident,
accused the police, the chief
and elected officials of collud
ing on “policing for profit.”

reportedly in the gas sta
tion when the shooting
occurred. When she walked
outside after Walls had
been shot, she allegedly got
into his truck to retrieve her
purse and Walls’ cell phone
and called someone to pick
her up from the scene.
She turned herself into
authorities and is facing
charges of conspiracy to
commit a crime, party
to a crime, theft by tak
ing. obstruction of a law
enforcement officer and
tampering with evidence.
Baker had reportedly
been in contact with Travis
Conway Brady, of Gaines
ville, who is facing charges
of tampering with evidence
and theft by receiving.
Brady reportedly received
Walls’ cell phone and said
he dumped it in Lake Lani
er. but a search of the area
was unsuccessful.
Baker’s mother. Paula
Agans, 48. of Oakwood,
who picked her up at the
scene, was later arrested
for obstruction and hinder
ing apprehension.
This is the first shooting
in the Town of Braselton
since 2011. BPD police
chief Terry Esco said he’s
thankful for the work of the
officers and investigators.
“It’s good police work,”
he said.

BARROW COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES PROMOTES THREE
Barrow County Emergency Services recently promoted three firefighters to the rank of Lieutenant.

BCES promotes 3 firefighters to lieutenants
Barrow County Emergency Ser
vices recently promoted three fire
fighters to the rank of Lieutenant.
“The three new lieutenants took
part in an earlier promotional test
ing for lieutenant,” Barrow County
fire chief John Skinner said in a
news release.
“The testing resulted in a promo
tional list that allowed us to fill the
three lieutenant positions as soon
as they opened up under the current
budget.”
Lieutenant Rob Aldred joined
Barrow County Emergency Ser
vices in September 2008. Aldred
started his firefighting career as a
volunteer in Fryeburg Maine.
He took numerous education
classes and started working as a
career EMT in 1987.
He continued training and attend
ing classes, becoming a NPQ Fire
fighter and a Paramedic. After join
ing Barrow County Emergency Ser
vices. he continued working hard to
better himself and the department.
He worked on numerous grants to
help move the department forward,
took numerous Fire Officer classes
and also became a member of the
Georgia Search and Rescue Task
Force 1 as a medical, logistical and
search specialist.
Lieutenant Aldred also was rec
ognized in 2014 as the Georgia
Firefighter of the Year.
Lieutenant Nic Bourchier joined
Barrow County Emergency Ser
vices in September 2013.
Bourchier started his firefighting
career with the United States Air
Force in 2006.
He served with the Air Force
until July 2013, being assigned to
places like Nellis AFB NV, Curaco
and Baghdad Iraq.
After joining Barrow County
Emergency Services, Lieutenant
Bourchier started working hard to
advance his career.
He became an EMT-Advanced
and soon became known for his
patient care abilities. He is also a
NPQ Firefighter 2 and a registered
Airport Firefighter.
He has certifications as a Fire
Officer 1, Fire Instructor 1 and Fire
Inspector 1.
In May of this year. Lieutenant
Bourchier was recognized by the
Georgia DHS Region 10 awards as
Barrow Counties EMT of the Year.
Lieutenant Shannon Faulkner
joined Barrow County Emergency
Services in July 2006.
He is a graduate of Winder Bar-
row High School.
When joining the department,
Faulkner went in to a recruit class
to obtain his firefighting certifica
tion.
After completing recruit class.
Faulkner continued training and
completing classes.
He became an EMT-Intermediate
and began working on fire officer
training.
He completed numerous class
es, such as Fire Officer 1, Fire
Instructor 2 and Decision Making
For Command and General Staff in
Emergency Operations Centers.
The three Lieutenants are per
forming the role of company
officers in the stations they are
assigned to.
“The three of them are great
employees that have worked hard
to become officers,” Skinner said.
“They are a good example of
what makes Barrow County Emer
gency Services the great depart
ment we are. I look forward to
seeing the good work the three of
them will do in their new roles.”
