A Christmas musical will
be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sun
day, Dec. 18, at Union Baptist
Church.
“This is Christmas” is the title
of the musical and free to every
one.
The church is located at 527
Union Church Road, Winder.
The service on Christmas Day
will be held at 10:30 a.m.
The Winder First United
Methodist Church announces
the following upcoming events:
•Chancel Choir Christmas
Cantata “Agnus Dei” - 7 p.m. on
Saturday, Dec. 17; and 8:45 and
10:55 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18.
•Candle Lighting Service - 5,
6:30 and 11 p.m. on Saturday,
Dec. 24, in the Sanctuary. No
drop-in communion in the chap
el. Communion will be a part of
all of the services. A nursery will
be available from 5-7:30 p.m.
•Christmas Day Service -
10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
Only one service. No Sunday
school or evening activities.

center will be closed on Friday,
Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 26.

Winder First United Meth
odist Church offers a Par
ents Morning Out program on
Wednesdays, from 8:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m.
Parents Morning Out is a
weekly program that provides
childcare for children six months
old through pre-school age.
The cost is $10 per child (sib
ling discount).
Participants will pay by the
month.
The program is held in Room
131 in the Pasley Family Life
Center at the back of the church
located at 280 North Broad
Street, Winder.
Registration forms are avail
able at the church office. Family
Life Center lobby and at drop
off on Wednesdays.

SCHOOL NUTRITION
The Barrow County School System nutrition program has received multiple
awards recently. They are for professional standards in school nutrition, use
of social media marketing in school nutrition and the Golden Radish Award
for using locally grown produce in cafeterias. The awards and program were
recognized at the Board of Education meeting last week. With the awards are,
left, Pamela LeFrois, director of school nutrition, and Nicole Trunk, coordi
nator for nutrition.
BARROW SCHOOLS’ CHRISTMAS CARD
The annual Christmas card for the Barrow County school system was “100
percent student produced,” Ellen Petree, school and community relations
specialist for the district, told the school board. Neely Rogan, left, fifth
grade student at Yargo Elementary, wrote the message, and Ryan Patterson,
right, fourth-grade student at Holdsenbeck Elementary, is the illustrator. Kat
Marcotte’s graphic design class at Sims Academy printed the cards, and
Bekki Phillips STEP class at Sims Academy folded and stuffed them.
