Negroes Attempt Swindle

DUBLIN, Ga., April 28—Two ne
~groes are in jail here on charge of
attempting to swindle a negro wom
an out of her house and home in the
old pocketbook game that has been
worked so mary times in years gone
by.

ton had shown Betsy Miller, an aged
" liegro woman a pocketbook they had
found with a $2,000 bill in it. They
decided to split the bill, but had no
change, and the woman was about
to give them a deed to her small
home when her daughter came in
the house and recognized the two ne:
groes as some she had seen charged
with stealing money in Cleveland,
Ohio. She stopped the transfer of
the deed, and notified the police.
' The two men were arrested Sunday
morning by Policemen Hadden and
Branch, and are held for the grand
jury. :
