Fossils Reveal Tragedy
Of Sea In Past Ages
WASHINGTON, May 5—(P)—A
deep-sea tragedy which took place
seven or eight million years ago, has
just come to light in Kansas.
, When that state was part of an
island sea, a huge fish, something
like 2 modern tarpon, turned canni
bal and swallowed, perhaps, one of
its own progeny, head first and
whole, 3
That was its last meal, bringing
swift punishment in the form of indi
gestion. Nature wrote the record of
the crime in terms of rocks and ages
and the fossilized skeletons, one
within the other, are being prepared
by scientists at the natural museumn:
for exhibition—jossibly as a lessor
