COURT APPROVES PLAN FOR
ITS REORGANIZATION. l
ATLANTA, Ga.,, May 17—(P)—
Judge Samuel H, Sibley in federal
district court today signed an order
anproving a plan of reorganization
of the A. B. & A. Railway Company
which represents the means by which
the Atlantic Coast Line will attempt
to buy the A. B. & A, propertyi
when it is put up for sale on June 16
. The plan for reorganization pro-‘
vides for a cash payment of 53677,-‘
500 by the Atlantic Coast Line and‘
the issuance of preferred stock’
amounting to $5,200,000 to bond"
holders of the A. B. & A. at the rate
of $6O a share of stock for a $lOO
bond. ‘
The Coast Line is to receive 150 ‘
000 shares of common stock for the
cagh payment which it makes for the
A. B. &A. In signing the order
the court reserved the right to pasg
on any changes in the present reor
wanization plans and to hear any
‘complaints that may be made by
parties involved in the reorganiza--
tion, |

ALBERT W. GILCHRIST DIES AF.
TER HAVING UNDERGONE
SEVERAL MAJOR OPERATIONS
NEW YORK, May 17—(P)—Al
bert W. Gilchrist, former governor
of Florida, died at the hospital for
ruptured and crippled here today. |
He had been a patient in that in
stitution since last November. He
had undergone severe operations for
an effection of the thigh, He was 68
years old. Robert W. Gibbs, a half
brother, was with him.
Mr. Gilchrist was a descendant of
the families of George Washington
and James Madison. :
Graduated from the United States
Military academy in 1882, he turned
first to civil engineering. His public
career began with his election to the
Florida house of representatives .in
1893 and was re-elected in 1895, -
With the outbreak of the Spanish-
American war he resigned a commis:
gsion as brigadier general in the Flori
da militia and enlisted as a private
in the regular army, being sent to
Santiago, Cuba. He was discharged
with the rank of cgptain.
The body was sent to Florida® for
buriel next Tuesday at Punta Gorda.
Beginning this week, Radio Station
WSB (The Atlanta Journal) is hroad
casting a series of radio tlaks by
prominent agricultural authorities of
the southeastern states. In these talks
timely suggestions will be presented
which, in view of the backward con-,
dition of most crops, should be nl‘;
great interest. |
