QUESTION AND ANSWER
I questioned much the tiny flower
Peeping beside the path I've trod
From morn till noon and hour by
hour—
One answer came, and only, “God"
And then Isa wa barren heath, !
Blackened and burned, where trees
had grown \ |
With bright sweet {lowers under
neath » i
And sod with tender grasses sown,
And many an open acre by,
Untended, vast, and bleak did ite— 1
And much I questioned all this
scene - }
Where neither purpose, part, nor
plan ‘ |
Of beauty now could intervene ‘
To save {he landscape in undress,
That flowers and trees enrich and
bless, , '
Till many a weary year pass by—
As if the carth could tell me why
The noble trets and flowers must
die—
One answer come, the only, “Man!

YOU CAN'T FIGURE out your
chancss on the blackboard of
fate because years ago fools
used to blow out the gas, now
they step on it, and here’s about
as good recipe for a first class
tragedy as anyone could ask
for: One natural born fool; a
couple drinks of moonshine; ‘
some king of an automobile; ‘
Directions: Soak the fool in the
moonshine; place him in the
car and let him go; after due
time remove from the wreckage,
place in a satin lined box and
garnish with flowers. If you
really must step on the gas, be
sure to head in the direction of
Quick Service Battery Co,,
where the best of Prest-O-Lite
batteries can be obtained. It's
