RCVENUE AGENT RULES i
PERMITS, SAYS HIGH COURT
WASHINGTON, June 2—(P)—
The right of the commissioner of in
ternal revenue to grant or deny de
raturing permits in his discretion
under the Volstead act was upheldl‘
today by the supreme court.
The court held that the commis--
sioner had not abused his disceretior
in refusing to issue a permit to the
King Products Company of Pitts
burg, which sought authority to op
erate a denaturisg plant.
When the permit was refused, the
company took the question into the
federal district court of westerr
Pennsylvania, which ruled that the
granting of such a permit waas dis
cretionary with the commissioner
was justified in refusing the permit
The court of appeals concurred i¢
that decision, and today the suprem
court added its approval.
