There is a time in the control of
pfllnfidcts, ‘that“if we act then we.
can prectically got 100 percent result.
The saying of “AN OUNCE OF
PREVENTION IS EQUAL TO A
POUND OF CURE"” was never more
true than in our fight on the boll
weevil. © You remember that we did
our best fighting last year when we
found the frist weevils that came out
of winter quarters and started to
poisoning ‘the cotton where we found
this outbreak. We stopped every
thing else to get this fight started on
time. After this fight had been going
on for, a while we had three weeks
of hot dry weather. Our first fi;;:hti
with mopping of cotton, spraying an(”
dusting, killed all of the old .weevils
that came ‘out of winter quarters. The
hot sand killeq all of the puncturad
squares. We then had all sources of !
seed supply cat oif except a few old
weevils that were late coming out and
a'fitd Tfom fields where there was no;
fight being conducted. This methml‘
got results last year. It will produce
good results this year if we will fight.li
We are supposed to have at least
95 percenti'of all of our olg weevils.
that went into winter quarters last
year ouf now. We have certainly
nothing to wait for. The time is here
to fight. Some ten different farmers
have reported that they have found
weevils and punctured squares this
week, they are poisoning, of course.
; You should by all means go through
your cotton next week and bhe sure
for yourself that you have no weey
ils. Don’t take anybody’s word for
this. It is too important a jobh and
must be done now to get best results.
I have one club boy that has caught
100 live weevils off of his one acre
of cotton. He has poisoned his cot
ton ang after two weeks of fighting
he has entirely freed his cotton of
weevils., He got results by watch
ing and working, and don’t you. think
he had all of the weevils in the
county.
I saw one man wasting poison last
week, dusting where he had not found

One pound of calcium arsenate used
wisely now will be worth as much as
20 pounds later. Get the ol dweevil,
the one that ‘spends the inter with
you and the one that is the source of
seed supply. '‘When you destroy him,
you have the source of seed supply
cut off. If the weather is too hot for
the seed to hatch we then have him
under control.
A pair of weevils can produce 12,-
000,000 offsprings if all of their cp;gsi
hatch and all offspring live. The con
dition necessary for this is to leave
them alone and let it rain about three
weeks and be cloudy. They; will
thrive then.
Stop your HATCHERY by getting
the old weevil NOW.
