OFFICE PHONE 30
ON A FISHING TRIP
+ 1 was all out of sorts, so I said to
myself,
I'll go fishing today.
I'll chuck all my duties way up on
the shelf,
And slip to the bay.
And maybe I'll get some, and maybe
I wan't,
But it won't matter much if I do or
I don't,
For I'll lock at the water and look
at the trees,
And soak up the sunshine and soak
up the brecze, |
|
I wag ali tangled up and confased in
wy mind |
Coomed a hodge podge of stuff,
I'd the notlion somehow I was falling‘
behind, |
Andthe going too rough, 1
I was living with dollars and living
with trade 1
“And counting this life by the prof
its 1 made,
And I'd almost forgotten the long
vears might hold
Some treasure not reckoned in silver
and gold. ‘
i
So 1 slipped out alone on a beatiful
day
To fish and to rest.
And the wind blew a lot of my mean
ness away
As T later confessed.
And the Lord came and whispered
to me: “Life is more
Than sharpening scissors or running
a store,
And you don’t need much money to
live as a friend
And share in the numberless pleas
ures I send.”
So I stretched out my soul and I took
" in the trees
And the clouds drifting by.
I soaked up the sunshine and soaked
up the breeze i
“And I let my thoughts lie |
On the beauty of blossoms and birds
with their song.
I balanced life’s pleasures against all
its wrong,
Set my self straight on the great
things and small,
- And know some of my cares didn’t
matter at all,

WATERMELON PRICES
DROP AT THOMASVILLE
THOMASVILLE, Ga., July 2—(/F)
—Watermelon shipments are being
rushed this week although the prices
have dropped considerably,
One hundred and fifty carloads
were shipped from Barwick dast
week and Pavo also reported large
¢hipments, Boston and other sections
of the county, too, gending out many
carloads. Barwick reports receiving
$625 for the first car shipped from
there, but the same party shipping
the first ear only received $l5O and
$125 for shipments since.
The fact that the Florida crop is
later than usiml, so that Georgia and
middle and northern Florida are
shipping at practicably the same time
is causing the market to bhe over--
stocked. As the demand for melong
for the -Fourth of July trade is al-l
ways large, the shippers are hoping
to receive better returns the latter
rart of the week. The melons are
larger and of a better quality than
last year.
Mr. and Mrs. O. 11. Willocks are
moving today into their new bunga
low on Third street. Mr. and Mrs
Ed Sharpe will have apartments with
them.
Tustria now has 40,000 more un
employed than at any time last year
