“SENOR DAREDEVIL”
. NEW TYPE PICTURE
AT CIRCLE SATURDAY
KEN MAYNARD AND DOROTHY
DEVORE ARE CO-STARRED IN
FIRST NATIONAL FILM. :
An entire new type of outdoor
picture
_Great, open and spacious settings
and a«star, Ken Maynard, who is a
superb horseman and athlete, are
the only points which classify “Se
nor Daredevil” which comes on
Christmas Day to the Circle Theatre
as a “Western,” according to per
_sqns who have seen it in review and
giv"ven it their enthusiasitc approval.
I‘:fimis a charles R. Rigers production,
"directed by Al Rogdell, who, al
tl;bugh one of the youngest directors
has a long list of screen successes
to his credit. ;
. “We are in the comedy arc of the
sgreen cycle just now,” said Rogell
and “Senor Daredevil," with one of
the most adept of comediens, Doro
thy: Devore, as featured lead, we
have plenty of laughs. Moreover,
with a case, including such actors as
George Nicholas, Josef Swickard, J.
P, McGowan; Sheldon Lewis and
others we are assured of fine por
trayals of the widely livergent char
acters of the story. The greatest at
tqn%ion was paid to the selection of
beautiful settings and backgrounds
for the dramatic and romantic epi
sodes, and with Sol Polito, A. S. C,,
at the camera, the beauty spots were
transferred to the screen at their
full value.” ;
“Senor Daredevil” iz Rogell’s
‘first directorial contribution to
First National pictures as it is May
nards first appearance under that
brand. It is a modern story dealing
with the work of the pack train
ffcightors in keeping remote com
munities of gold miners and pros
pectcrs supplied with, the necessities
of a few luxuries of life.

that he knew her hsband was the
father of a child born to a servant

His denial brought out the fine
line separating ‘“good” lying from

He advised the unfortunate girl

“We Impress Selling for. -
Cash Because It’s a Reason
For Low Prices’’—Philibosian
lWell-Knowu Purniture Dealer
| ‘Gives Interecsting Interview
! on Unigue Merchandising
l Pelicy of Firm.
, The writer recently called on Ste-|
iphen Philibosian at his beatiful far-|
i niture, rug and drapsry store uat 5811
i Peachtree street, Atlanta, for the pur-!
'pose of getting him to explain why
he 'emphasized the fact in all his ad-|
vertising that he seils “strictly for|
cash.” ; l
Most firms that require the cash!
| with the merchandise they egell mep-}
tion this fact incideatally in their ad
|vert!sing, but the firm of St:.\phen!
{ Philiboslan, Inc., stresses 1t in :xll|
their adverfising copy, and a huge
electric sign on top of the store pro
claims to the wprld that here is a
business that sefls strictly for cash.
“We feature this end of our busi-‘
’ness.” gsaid Mr. Philibosian, "becanso‘
jt 18 a logical and forceful reason
why we can sell Quality Merchandise!
for Lower Prices. |
“Our store requires Mrs. Wealth to
pay cash just as we require Mrs. Mod
srately-Well-to-Do. The reason is not
a question of credit, but it ig merely
4 merchandising plan. When peonle
come to our store and pay cash for
furniture, rugs and draperies, they do
not resent the fact that they are re
quired to psy cash, because they know
‘that it is not because we would not
welcome their account, provided we
were operating a credit business, but
because of ounr cash plan we are able
to gell them real quality merchandise
at lower prices than they have been
accustomed to paying.
“Anyone who visits our store and
‘ gees the character of the merchandise
' we are offering and compares the
lprlces we ask for this merchandise
with what the public pays for it on

THE CORDELE DISPATCH
POWER FIRMS PLANS
TO ADVERTISE CITIES
SPARTA, Ga., Decomber 24—(&)
—This city will be given considera
ble advertising of a national scope
in the near futrre by ~Georgia
Southern Power company whose high
tensioé’ transmission lines touch here.
This egncern has a New York office
convince them that we have the right
plansi s s :
“So when a person sees in our ad
vertiging that ‘ye sell only for cash,”
it is because we are trying to imprecs
apon the public that without doubt
we offer values in furniture, rugs and
draperies that cannot be duplicated at
the term store.”
: Never a Special Safe.
Another thing explained by Mr.
Philibosion was why he says “Never
a Special Sale.”
“Our pelicy s to give our custom
ors the Benefit of low prices every
month in the year. It is not a part
of our plan to wait for a particnlar
month, mark -our merchandise down,
and then mark the same merchandise
back up next month. :
“When new furniture arrives in our
store we mark it down to rock-bottom
prices in {Me beginning., We put such
low pricgs on this: mercgandise. that
it does nof stay on our floors and
depend upon a special sale for remov
al. We depend upon volume businegs
for our profit and such a plan enables
us to keep merchandise moving.
“By 'never: bolding a special sale, a
customer can come to this store, make
a purchase and go away knowing that
nobody coyld come to us and buy the
same merchandise for one cent less
money than he: or she paid.”
Always New Merchandise,
“Another advahtage in operating on
a low margin of profit and in keeping
rierchandising moving,” gaid Mr. Phili-
Lesian, “is the fact that our custom:
g are always assured of the very
acwest morchandise. Vogues in fur
viture and household furnishings.
