MYSTERY SURROUNDS DEATH OF
AMERICAN IN SHANGHAIL
SHANGHAI, December 12—(AP)—
Wystery still surrounds the death of
Frederick R Stuart, an American
who hai'ing lived for a quarter of a
tenury in the Far East, was found
’ vesterday shot to death in the Chirese
nuarter near the International settie
ment. The police are convinced that
| he was murdered.
When the bedy was found the
pockets of his clething were empty and

| Stuart was the victim of a dishonest
rickshaw runner, who took him to
the native city where confederates at
tempted robbery, followed by murder.
