Millen - In a momentous
event last week. Spotlight Dance
Academy held a ribbon-cutting
ceremony to mark the official
opening of their new location at
the former elementary school,
nestled inside the building
with Rethunk Junk. Previously
situated within the Jenkins
County Recreation Department,
the dance studio's relocation to
this historic site has been met
with excitement and anticipation.
Cassie Thomas, a Millen native
and the passionate owner and
principal dance instructor of the
academy, couldn't conceal her
enthusiasm about the new chapter
for Spotlight Dance Academy. "I
am thrilled by this move," Cassie
remarked, her eyes gleaming with
pride. "Our students now have an
environment that is tailor-made to
nurture their artistic growth and
expression."
Cassie's journey into the world
of dance began at the tender age
of five, under the guidance of
the esteemed Mrs. Kay Miller.
"Mrs. Miller taught me nearly
everything I know about dance,"
Cassie reminisced, her voice
brimming with gratitude. "In fact,
she believed in my potential so
much that she entrusted me with
the role of a student teacher for
our younger dancers."
Beyond her dedication to dance,
Cassie and her husband, Tony,
are visionary entrepreneurs with
a diverse portfolio of ventures.
The couple has successfully
managed a photography business,
a bespoke knife enterprise, and
even a collection of exotic
animals, further reflecting their
boundless passion and creativity.
The academy is also delighted
to welcome Allysha Taylor, a
recent Millen transplant, as the
tumbling instructor. Spotlight
Dance Academy boasts a
comprehensive curriculum that
includes an array of dance styles,
ranging from tap, ballet, and jazz,
to hip hop, lyrical, and a unique
boys' hip hop class, signaling
their commitment to fostering an
inclusive artistic community.
Looking to the future, Cassie
has ambitious plans to expand
the academy's offerings. "We
are actively working towards
introducing adult line dancing,
invigorating stretching sessions,
and the exhilarating rhythms of
zumba," Cassie revealed with
a smile, hinting at the vibrant
spectrum of dance experiences
that await.
For those eager to delve into
the world of dance or explore
their creative potential. Spotlight
Dance Academy extends an
open invitation. Interested
