COMMUNITY The city of Dawsonville will host FoodTruck Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 5 and Nov. 2.The food trucks will be located downtown on Bill Elliott Street andTucker Avenue, next to the Purple Corn Boutique and Dawson County News. Food truck vendors, inflata- bles, face painting, balloon animals and corn hole will be among the festivities. The event will be held weather permitting. Parking is limited so city residents are encouraged to walk to the event. American Sign Language North Georgia is hosting its first Dawson County meeting at Panera Bread from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 6.The group is a way for everyone to prac tice ASL and connect with others in the north Georgia area. All ages and ASL abil ities are welcome.The group plans to meet once per month. Join the Facebook group ASL North Georgia to learn more. The Dawsonville chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace is currently looking for volunteers to round out their core team who will be trained in the process of building beds and leading one-time volunteers at build events. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a non profit organization that builds beds for children in the community who do not have beds of their own. Volunteers will learn howto build bunk beds and assist with delivery and assembly to children in need. Books will be available for sale and for signing after the meeting. LCHS invites everyone to attend and light refresh ments will be served. Travels with Foxfire was released in August and has several Lumpkin County connections including a chapter on former sole commissioner J.B. Jones, Monday night music gath erings in the Auraria Community and quotes from several Lumpkin County residents. The Dawson County Library is hosting two free pumpkin decorating ses sions on Oct. 13.The first session will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the second will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Space is limited. Dawson County will be hosting a Community Connections Workshop from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Margie Weaver Senior Center.
