Buechler, 96, of
Loganville, died Dec. 16,
2018.
Born May 19, 1922
near Mableton to the late
James Henry and Hattie
Floyd Powers, she attend
ed Mableton Grammar
and High School. She
was also a graduate of
Marsh Business College.
Mrs. Buechler retired
from Norfolk Southern
Railway after 40 years of
service.
Her first husband,
Joseph M. Turner, Jr.; sis
ter, Ruth Capper; and a
brother, James Powers,
preceded her in death.
Survivors include her
husband, William E.
Buechler, Jr.; sons and
daughters-in-law, Joseph
M., Ill and Sharon Turner
of West Springfield,
Mass., James F. and
Carole Turner of
Dawsonville; grandchil
dren, Wendy and Steve

the Juno Baptist Church

Burley
Marion Thomas Burley,
77, of Dawsonville, died
Dec. 15,2018.
Tom was born in
Monticello, S.C. on April
30, 1941. After graduat
ing from the University of
South Carolina, Tom
served his country in the
United States Army, then
in the Army Reserve,
where he was a Staff
Sergeant. After leaving
the Army, Tom retired
from IBM with over 30
years of service as a
financial analyst, where
he met many lifelong
friends.
After retirement, Tom,
an avid nature lover,
enjoyed planning and tak
ing long road trips to
many National Parks
around the country. Tom
also enjoyed exploring
new countries and their
food and culture, working
on his computer, taking
pictures and watching
wildlife (and occasionally
shooting BBs at the
unlucky squirrels that dis
rupted his bird feeder).
His parents, William
Lee and Thomassena
(Boulware) Burley; sister,
Mary Burley Sturkie; and
brother, Joel Daniel
Burley, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his
wife of 53 years, Ann
Hammond Burley;
daughter, Kellie Simon
(Steve); son, Walker
Burley (Kelly); beloved
grandchildren, Catherine
Burley, Abby Burley, and
Connor Burley; brother,
William Lee Burley
(Dot); various other rela
tives also survive.
A private memorial
service will be held in
Dawsonville at a later
date.

Lewis Paul Brock
Lewis Paul Brock, Jr.,
74, of Cumming, died
Dec. 16, 2018.
Lewis was a loving
husband, father, grandfa
ther and great-grandfather
with a fun and outgoing
personality. Lewis loved
to make others laugh.
Most of all he loved his
family and spending time
with them, especially his
great-grandson, Jason.
He was an avid sports
man who enjoyed hunt
ing, fishing and golfing.
Lewis retired as a carpet
installer.
He was a member of
Lighthouse Baptist
Church in Dawsonville.
His wife of 54 years,
Annette Brock; a daugh
ter, Lew Ann Brock; and
parents, Paul and Myrtle
Brock, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his
daughters, Pam Elzey of
Dawsonville, Kim (Chris)
Webb of Mt. Airy; grand
children, Paige (Andrew)
Blackstock, Lauren
(Cody) Garrett, Michael
Webb, Carissa Webb,
Savannah Elzey, Makayla
Elzey; great-grandson,
Jason Garrett; brother,
Dennis (Betty) Brock of
Donaldsonville; several
nieces, nephews; various

Chastain Sr.
Tony Ray Chastain, Sr.,
56, of Dawsonville, died
Dec. 10, 2018.
He was born in Atlanta
in 1962 to the late
Charles and Betty
Chastain.
Tony worked for SRB
transportation in
Clermont. He was an avid
fisher and loved riding
motorcycles when he
could. He will be missed
by all who knew him.
Survivors include his
children, Tabitha Lyn
Chastain and Tony
(Chalet) Chastain, Jr.;
grandchildren, Lance,
Amie and Cheyenne
Chastain; brother, David
(Cindy) Chastain; neph
ews, Chris and Michael
Chastain and Joseph

82, of Dawsonville, died

Mrs. Collett was a
homemaker and a mem
ber of Ophir Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her
husband of 65 years,

Ricky Collett (Deborah),
Dennis Collett (Karen),
Robin Keown (Gary),
Tim Collett (Scarlet) and
Deshan Lishel (Tom);
nine grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; vari

Jane Cox
Jane Cox, 68, of
Dawsonville, died Dec.
10, 2018.
Jane was a lifelong
member at Coal
Mountain Baptist Church
in Cumming where she
served as the pianist and
worshipped the Lord
through her music minis
try. She wrote approxi
mately 50 songs about
her Lord and Savior. Jane
served her community by
singing and playing at
many church services,
revivals, weddings and
funerals.
She was a loving and
faithful servant, wife,
mother, nana, sister and
friend. Most of all, Jane
passionately loved her
grandchildren and adored
every second that she
served as their Nana. Jane
will dearly be missed.
Her father, Waldon
Mundy; first husband,
Robert Cheek; father -in-
law and mother-in-law,
Wayne and Nelle Cox;
brothers-in-law and sis-
ters-in-law, Joe Lane
Cox, Jake Mullinax, and

son, J. Mike Cranford,
preceded her in death.

"Edd" Gaddis
Loy Edward “Edd”
Gaddis, 80, of
Dawsonville died Dec.
12, 2018.
Mr. Gaddis was a life-
long resident of
Dawsonville, born Jan.
31, 1938 to the late John
and Kate Gaddis.
A U.S. Army veteran,
he served as a Marine
Engineer during the
Cuban Missile Crisis
from 1961 to 1963. Edd
was an employee of J.M.
Tull Metals for over 30
years until his retirement
in 1999. A loving and
devoted husband, father
and grandfather, he
enjoyed fishing and gar
dening.
His wife of 48 years,
Ellen Southern Gaddis,
and several brothers and
sisters, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his
daughters and sons-in-
law, Connie and Shane
Holt of Ellijay, Sherri and
Mark Autry of
Dawsonville; grand
daughters, Kayla and
Amber Autry; brother and
sister-in-law, James and
Chester Gaddis of
Dawsonville; sister and
brother-in-law, Annette
and Gene Carnes of
Dawsonville; sister,

David Winston “Red”
Goode, 83, of Marble
Hill, died Dec. 17, 2018.
He was born on Sept. 4,
1935 to the late Boyd and
Effie Goode. He was a
lifelong resident of
Dawson County and a
member of Amicalola
Baptist Church.
Red had a love for
NASCAR, Lalcons foot
ball, fishing and garden
ing. He was a loving hus
band, father and papa,
and he earned the nick
name Noah because of
his love of animals. He
was a Master Masonry
worker for over 50 years.
His wife, Dot Goode;
daughter, Sharon Goode;
six brothers and two sis
ters, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his
daughters and sons-in-
law, Debra and Jackie
Howington of
Gainesville, Ga., Lynn
and Dave Joseph of
Dawsonville, Regina

Dorothy M. Rouse
Dorothy M. Rouse, 96,
of Dawsonville, died Dec.
15,2018.
Born Jan. 27, 1922 in
Hall County to the late
Leonard and Clara
Moore, she lived a num
ber of years in Atlanta
and Douglas County
before moving to Dawson
County in 2001.
Mrs. Rouse served as a
school crossing guard in
Atlanta for several years
after which she worked in
nursing at Cobb General
Hospital in Austell.
Her husband of 78
years, Loy C. Rouse, and
a sister, Sue Hoeflich,
preceded her in death.
Survivors include her
children, Everett and
Marsha Rouse of Pine
Mountain, Susan Elaine
Buchanan of Woodstock,
Howard and Norma
Rouse of Tybee Island,
Bill and Nancy Rouse of
Acworth; 11 grandchil
dren; 25 great-grandchil
dren; and seven great-
great-grandchildren.

held at 11:30 a.m. Dec.
18 in the Bearden Luneral

Leah Smith
Leah Smith, 55, of
Dahlonega, died Dec. 13,
2018.
Leah was born July 18,
1963. A native of
Doraville, she lived in
Dahlonega for the past
two years having moved
from Brookhaven. She
was employed at Publix
in Lorsyth County.
Her father, Bobby
Smith; stepfather, Tommy
King; and a sister, Erica
King, preceded her in
death.
Survivors include her
mother, Evelyn King of
Dahlonega; sister, Lynn
Smith of Dawsonville;
brother, Stephen Johnson,
currently serving in the
military; various other
relatives also survive.
A memorial visitation
will be held from 3 to 5
p.m. Dec. 22 at Bearden
Luneral Home.
