Coweta-Fayette EMC Presents Sportsmanship Award to Area High Schools

local community by spon
soring the Georgia High
School Association Co
operative Spirit Sports
manship Award, which
honors GHSA member
schools throughout the
state that exhibit out
standing sportsmanship
during competitive events
throughout the school
year.
Since 2006, GHSA
and Georgia’s EMCs, in
cluding CFEMC, have
sponsored the Cooper
ative Spirit Sportsman
ship Award, which
reinforces the GHSA phi
losophy: “Students, ath
letes, coaches, spectators,
and all others associated
with high school activities
and programs should ad
here to the fundamental
values of respect, fair
ness, honesty, and re
sponsibility.”
For the 2022-23
school year, three CFEMC
area schools were selected
as award recipients, to in
clude East Coweta High
School, Fayette County
High School, and Newnan
High School.
CFEMC presented the
award to East Coweta
High School (ECHS)
Principal Steve Allen and
Athletic Director Lee
Heaberlin on Nov. 9,
where they expressed
their appreciation for
being selected again as an
award recipient. The
school previously re
ceived the award for
2020-2021.

School (FCHS) Athletic
Director Ashley Lott ac
cepted the award on be

basketball game on Nov.
17, presented by CFEMC’s

During the Newnan
High School (NHS) kick
off basketball game on
Nov. 14, held at the new
Max Bass Athletic Com
plex, CFEMC CEO Chris
Stephens presented the
award to NHS Principal
Gamal Kemp and Athletic
Director Randy Robbins.

High School, Fayette
County High School, and
Newnan High School on
receiving this prestigious
award,” said Stephens.
Cooperative Spirit
Sportsmanship awards
are presented annually to
the GHSA-member high
schools in the 64 regions
from the eight classifica
tions by EMC representa
tives during fall athletic
events and school as
semblies. These high
schools displayed exem
plary sportsmanship ac
ross a variety of athletics,
ranging from student ath
letes to spectators.
As corporate sponsors
of high school athletics in
the state, Georgia’s EMCs
say they are excited for
another season of action.
Coweta-Fayette EMC
wishes all student-ath
letes the best of luck in
the 2023-2024 school
year.
