In the Town of Tyrone,
town staff, council members,
and citizens plan to gather on
Dec. 21 to celebrate Council-
women Linda Howard and
Melissa Hill for their service
on the Tyrone Town Council.
Both Howard and Hill
will be honored prior to the
Dec. 21 Tyrone Town Council
meeting with a drop-in cele
bration with light refresh
ments.
Howard has been a staple
in the Tyrone community as
a local historian for the com
munity, according to town
officials, but also a trailblazer
by being the first female
council member in Tyrone.
Her first term was from 1974
to 1977, with her second term
from 2012 to 2023.
Hill’s service on the
council was not only impact
ful, but community-based,
and allowed for light to shine
on all that Tyrone has to
offer, according to officials.
Her term began in 2020 and
concludes in 2023.
In January, Howard will
be succeeded by incoming
Post 1 representative Jessica
Whelan, while Hill will be
succeeded by incoming Post
2 representative Dia Hunter.
