Adieu my love, adieu, adieu,
My future hliis remains with you.
Though I may roam from pole to pole,
Athens holds my heart and my soul.
Though I am gone for ten long years.
My bonnie lass have thou no fears
That you will not see me again,
Though I to Afric’s sunny main
Do steer my storm tossed little barque,
If I may have one only spark
Of hope that you will think of me
When I am on the deep blue sea,
Life's trials will so easy seem
I'll know not if they be a dream.
Now that 1 am going away
Kiss me will you not? O do say,
That on your little rosy lips
I may not only press their tips
Hut just a little deeper go
Anil kiss you—Oil just kiss you —So!
