Dr. Hoggs lias been confined to bis room for the last few days on account of sickness. We wish him a very speedy recovery. After the roll was called and minutes read and adopted the committee that was appointed to select a subject for the contestants for champion debat er’s place reported the subject which they bad selected: Kcsolvcd, “TIi it the l nitedStalest lovorninent should adopt nn income tax." It was then moved that the society, should not give a champion debater's medal as the trustees bad offered several medals. After some discussion the motion was made and seconded that the discussion of this subject lie made the special order of the day. The debate was then held on the subject which was selected for Un- joint debate between the two soeie ties today, Ucnolved, “That Labor Organizations are more productive of evil than good. The speakers on the aHirmativc were Hacon, Jackson, Smith, Hoffmeyer on the m-gative, Stephens, Akerman, Shenrhouse. After reviewing the arguments the president, .Mr. W. A. Harris gave his decision in favor of the affimativc. The president then appointed Mr Holcombe Hacon to open the debate for the I’hi Kappa’s in the joint de bate today, and Mr. Ilreon F.
