GEORGIA LOSES
--«»—
To Cornell by a Score of 10 to 5.
Thursday was an ideal day 1
for baseball and those who
turned out to see the game with
Cornell were given a fine exhi
bition of ball playing.
Georgia had hardly expected
to wiu from the Ithicans, but
there is not a man who saw the
game who does not now feel
more confidence in Georgia’s
team. The boys demonstrated
their ability in the line of hall
playing and but for the fatal sev
enth inning, there might he a
■different story to tell. In this
inning partly through hard
luck and partly through poor
fielding, Cornell was allowed to
score five times. Up to this
point of the game, the teams
iiad been running neck and
neck with the odds slightly in
Georgia’s favor, for the wearers
of the Red and Black were hit
ting the ball harder and oftoner
than were the men from Cor
nell.
To pick out the the features
of the game would be rather
difficult as the game abounded
in good plays. However, Walk
er's playing at short stood out
more prominently than any
other feature. Hulsey’s throe!
bagger, Lyon’s long hit, and
McMullin’s playing at first
might also he mentioned.
The friends of the team should
not feel despondent over the
loss of this game : our pitchers
have already demonstrated their
ability to hold down the ballets
of a good team, the team has
shown that it can bat, run
bases, and also field well.
