The North Carolina Trip.
The team has returned from
an unsuccessful hut very en
joyable trip to I'lemson, Chapel
Hill, and Durham. The boys
are all loud in their praises of
the treatment they received

It is true that disastrous de
feat met the team at every
game, but it will be remembered
in right
that the team that left Athens
was not by any means the 'Var
sity for 1901. Our opponents
scored eighty-eight points to our
eight ; and judging from the
score, one would think the con
tests football instead of baseball
games. However, as said above,
•our team was in no condition to
meet even John Knox’s aggre
gation of ball tossers, much less
splendid teams like Clemson,
North Carolina, and Trinity.
As everyone knows, only one
pitcher was taken with the
team. While Gordon is a strong

that with our regular team we

This is the story in part; the
whole of it might be tiresome.
There are no regrets as to the
llnancesof the trip. The guar
antees from the various teams
were sufficient not only to pay
all expenses hut also to put a
neat little sum into the coffers
of our much depleted treasury.
Gur next game is with North
Carolina on May 9th here in
Athens. The Carolina hoys then
go to Atlanta and play the Techs

game with the Tar Heels on the
