GREAT SEND OFF
GIVEN BULLDOGS
BY ENTHUSIASTS
and the victory of the Spirit of Geor
gia. ,
The hoarse cheering of the men
students was argumented by the
shrill screams of the co-eds who were
rather inclined to grow hysterical
over this contagious spirit which per
vaded the atmosphere. Freshmen
house had turned out en masse, and
saw the send-off through to the ec
static end.
So intense is the interest over this
game and so genuine was the loy
alty of the student body that a huge
crowd gathered at the chapel long
before the scheduled time of the j
mass meeting. The band showed up
to the man, and every instrument
was performed upon with unusual
lustiness as "Glory” or “Hail” was
called for. Noise, of the kind only
a Georgia student body can make,
when voicing its confidence in the
Ked and Black team and reiterat
ing its derision of the opposing
team’s prowess, continued full blast
from the moment the crowd began
to gather outside the chapel until
the train disappeared in the direc
tion of New Haven.
Joint-captain Lautzenhiser was
persuaded to mount a platform, nee
a baggage truck, and make a
speech. But as he expressed confi
dence of victory, the crowd had what
it wanted and pandemonium again
broke loose. The spirit manifested
all during the hour Wednesday

The Bulldogs are going into hos

long and tiresome trip for the sake
of meeting a traditional foe in a
game surrounded by sentiment and
friendship. They may win—they
may lose. But that is a minor de

the game, the student body will
make their welcome back home as
hearty and as genuine as the great

Tobacco Hunt

Gentlemen:
I started smoking on cigarettes, but
after meeting a young lady for whom
men who smoked pipes had a greater
charm, I promptly switched to one.
Then my agony began. I tried one
brand of tobacco after another, al
ways working on the theory that the
more you paid for tobacco, the better
it would be.
I tried imported special mixtures.
I paid as much as fifty cents an ounce.
All to no avail.
Then came the day I tried Edge-
worth. It was at a ball game. I had
run short of the certain brand I was
smoking, and a casual acquaintance
offered me a pipeful from his pouch.
Imagine my delight when after the
first few puffs I did not feel the old
familiar lute. I puffed on, inhaling the
delightful aroma, and oh, boy! It was
sweet right down to the bottom.
Nothing has separated me from my
pipe, or my pipe from Edgeworth,
since then.
Yours very truly,
(signed) David Freedman, Jr.
