Trains for 'Gators
Victorious in its first three starts,
the Georgia swimming team is push
ing preparations for two meets here
next week against Clemson and Flor
ida on Wednesday and Thursday.
The meet with Florida's Southeastern
champions is the high point of the
season aside from the Conference
meet at Knoxville, Tenn.
Only the strong Emory team has
given the Bulldogs close competition
to date, the latter having defeated P
C. and Kentucky by wide margins'.
Remaining on the schedule are Flor

up to the Southeastern Intercollegiate
Conference meet in the first week in
April,

Tech High five. 67 to 20, last Satur
day night In Woodruff Hall, and
swamped Elberton High. 51 to 20
Tuesday night at Elberton. Dan
Kirkland, star forward, led the Bull-
pup attack in both games.
The frosh court team, hailed us
one of the best in years, has had a
very successful season, losing only-
two games. Clemson's frosh and
Lanier High succeeded in stopping
Coach Howell Hollis' charges last
week. The Pups boast previous wins
over both these teams.
Coach Hollis will probably start
the Monroe tilt with Roy Cheatham
and Dan Kirkland at forwards; Joe
Killian at center; and John Stege-

up six consecutive wins in the San

Johnson; Regular Line-up
To Start
lly Jack Dorsey
Seeking to avenge the 51 to 28
defeat suffered in Atlanta several
weeks ago, Georgia's cage team
tackles the strong Tech five Saturday
night in Woodruff Hall at 8 o’clock.
Although the Bulldogs will enter
the fray as decided underdogs, they
intend to shoot the works against
their arch rivals in an attempt to
gain an even break in the two games.
Playing before a home crowd should
be a distinct advantage for the Geor
gia five.
Coach Frank Johnson will wind
up his career at Georgia with Satur
day night's game, as his resignation
becomes effective following the game.
He. was recently selected as assistant
to Head Coach Harry Mehre at the
University of Mississippi, and Coach
Elmer Lampe will succeed Johnson
as Bulldog basketball head next
week.

game to Alabama in Tuscaloosa Mon
day, the Rulldogs staged a comeback
Wednesday night to defeat Mercer’s
Bears, 4« to 37. in Woodruff Hall.

the Georgia attack with li points.
Tech's cagers, with a veteran team
back this year, have an impressive
record. Besides winning from the
Bulldogs, the Jackets boast victories
over Clemson, Mercer, N. C. State,
Florida, and Auburn. They recently
toppled the Plainsmen from first
place In the Southeastern Conference
race, winning a one-point decision in
the final minutes of play. The Jack
ets have only two defeats, adminis
tered by L. S. U. and Tulane, to mar
a perfect record.
