Campus Men Hear

of state of Georgia and University
campus lender in 1922, spoke to the
(Jt)I’ party at u meeting of campus
men Monday night In the Chapel. He
told of life at the University when
he was here and of the organization
of the GOP party.
There were less than 1,000 stu
dents enrolled when Wilson matric
ulated and It was during his college
career that women first catne to the
University. During his freshman
year, he roomed in Denmark Hall,
now used exclusively as the Univer
sity cafeteria.
He told of the organization of the
GOP party 25 years ago to give cam
pus men equal opportunities with
members of fraternities. He recalled
"Uncle Dave" Harrow's regular at
tendance at GOP meetings when ho
wus in school.
Short talks were made by John
Rucker, Alpharetta; Colbert Hawk-
Ins, Monroe, and C o. Baker, Macon,
members of the GOP party.

For This Afternoon
University cavalry regiment was to
hold u gymkhana, the llrst horse
show of Its kind ever to tuke place
ut the University, this afternoon at
3:30 on the Imselmll Held.
The performance, under the super
vision of Capt. L. C. Vance, consist
ed of five events. First on the pro
gram was an exhibition cavalry drill
by Troop 1 ending with a dismount
ed squad In action, followed by com
petition among advanced and basic
cavalry students and members of
the women's riding class In Jumping
their horses over obstacles.
Students of the first basic cavalry
were entered In the third event, an
egg and spoon race. Tin* next event
was an exhibition by monkey drill
squads executing vurlous tricks on
horseback.
An exhibition in high Jumping by
enlisted tfrmy men was scheduled as
the last event on the program.
All teams were chosen on a merit
basis after several weeks of competi
tive practice.

Glee Club by Hugh Hodgson, facul
ty advisor, and David Barrow, presi
dent of the club.
Ernest Q. Hicks, Lavonia, Red and
Black staff member, is confined to
the General Hospital, having under
gone an appendectomy Tuesday
night.

Tech Greeks Send
Invitation to Dances
University students have been in
vited by the Georgia Tech Interfra-
ternity Council to uttend the Initial
"Fall Frolics" set of dances Nov.
23. Hob Sylvester and his Sophisti
cated Swing Hand with Olga Vernon
as vocalist will furnish music for
the dances.
Tickets will be 55 cents for a tea
dance from fi to 8 and 85 cents for
the Pan-Hellenic dance from 10 to
2 o'clock.
Sylvester's orchestra has been
broadcasting for the past year over
the NBC and Mutual networks from
Virginia Bench, Anbury Park. N. J.,
and Chicngo. Ho has-also been fea
tured In New York, Boston, Cincin
nati. and Cleveland.
Olga Vernon, the vocalist, has ap
peared with Jan Garber and Hal
Kemp.
Prv-ls-gal Club will meet in the
court room of the Law Building on
Thursday at 7:15, Howell Hollis,
president, announced yesterday.
Avery, Smith to Represent
I Ag Club Against Foresters
Curtis Avery, Chlpley, and Dennis
Smith, Dawson, won tryouts Wednes
day to represent the Ag Club in the
first annual debate with the Forestry
School to be held Thursday night in
Conner Hall.
Tryouts for the annual College of
Agriculture debate will be held In
Conner Hall Wednesday, James
Cooley, Cleveland, chairman of the
Ag Club debating council, has an
nounced. The debate will take place
Thursday, Nov. 24, at the regular
meeting of the Ag Club.
