Hugh Hodgson, chnlrtnan of di
vision of line arts, will leave the first
week in November for n two weeks
tour of tho colleges in North Caro
lina nnd Vlrglntn ns a representative
of the Association of American Col
leges. This is the third consecutive
year he has received this honor.
The person awarded this distinc
tion Is described by the ^sedation
as "One who Is a personable and
articulate representative of his pro
fession.”
Mr. Hodgson, who will spend two
to three days on each campus, will
meet the classes, consult with the
students, and attempt to correlate
music wtth other classes.
The colleges he will visit this year
Include Davidson College. Davidson,
N. C , Mary Washington College,
Fredericksburg. Va.. State Teachers
College. Radford. Va.. Emory and
Henry College. Emorv. Va.. and Ben-
n< ts College. Greensboro. N. C.
Tn the past two years Mr. Hodg
son has visited colleges In Ohio,
West Virginia, Pennsylvania. Illin
ois. Iowa, nnd Kansas.
In his own state of Georgia, an
other distinction was given Mr.
Hodgson when he opened the series
of music appreciation programs

at the Georgia Stale College for Wo

Sigma Chi's Will Choose
Sweetheart Tomorrow
Sorority pledges will don the glad
rags and dash those chasses to the
Sigma Chi hang-out for that no
torious Derby Saturday afternoon at
2:30.
Not only will the Sweetheart of
Sigma Chi be chosen, but each sor
ority has the chance to win loving
cup upon loving cup.
Per usual, traffic will be halted
while the event takes shape, for the
street will be roped off. At Intervals
the Georgia football game returns
will be given on the loudspeaker.
Measurements for Modern Venus
have been chosen from Miss Ameri
ca's of 1942. Who will best fit those
dimensions?
The events offering trophies are;
Potato race, egg and spoon relay. 3-
legged race, tug-of-war, sack race,
stretcher race (a note of national
defense! Mayhaps some of the
pledges will actually need the
stretcher after the strenuous day)
and last but, b'gosh, funny as they
come, the steeple chase.
Five members of each sorority
j will enter the sweetheart race. All
hut ten will be eliminated by the
competent Judges and those ten will
he voted on by the members of the
chapter.

pledges with a tea dance Thursday

crest spoke before the first fall meet
ing of the Georgia Hillel Foundation
of B’nai B’ritt Sunday, October 5.
They highly commended the Hillel
participation in religious activities
