program of Intramural aporta for the
Winter Quarter.
Commencing with a 37-teain haa-
kethall tournament, opening thla
week, the achedule includea a haa-

catnpua and all-fraternity swimming
meet, ull-campua badminton and
handball tournamenta, and the con-1

a two-day affair. Feb. 6-6; and the

George llunicr. National, Intercol
leglate golf champion haa announced
that he will accept a position on the
Walker Cup team.
Hamer wna elected aa first alter
nate on the squad and was the logical
successor to the position that was
made vacant by the decision of Cary
Mlddlecoff to turn professional. The
Walker Cup team will leave for St.
Andrews, Scotland, on May 2,
Hamer will bn the fourth Georgian
to win a place on this “dream team.”
The others were Bobby Jonea, Char
ley Yates, and Watta Gunns, all of
Atlanta. Hamer la from Columbus.
Next football season Georgia fans
will he hearing gome familiar names
in strange surroundings. Bulldog
Williams will be traveling as a
“Dodger” and Joe Tereshinaki will
don feathers as a “Redskin.”
Garland “Bulldog" Williams, has
signed a professional football con
tract with the Brooklyn Dodgers for
a reputed $5,500 for one year, with
a $500 signing bonus. Williams, 215
j pound tackle for the Sugar Bowl
champions also played on the 1943
| Rose Bowl team.
The Washington Redskins an
nounced that Joe Tereshinaki had
signed with them for the next year.

1 Georgia's Scabbard and Blade
chapter, inactive during the war,
will be reactivated soon, according
to three former members who will
handle details of reorganization.
These former members are Captain
T. A. Barrow, military science teach
er; Robert R. Nickels, Jr„ Atlanta;
and Gerald D. Caubel, Memphis,

Honors Howl Team
Johnny Rnuch and Charlie Trlppl
will be honored at a meeting of the
Athena Touchdown Club Jnn. 30. The
two players will receive the William
K. Jenkins trophies aa the most val
uable players on the 1946 champion
ship Bulldog foothnl! team.
Silver service seta nre also to be
awarded to the two players at the
meeting when the Sugar Bowl Cup
will he presented to the team.
Wally Bulls and his 1946 team
have mnnaged to walk away with
honors from all sections of the coun
try. Trlppl received the Mnxwell Tro
phy for the most valuable player In |
the nation nnd Wally Butts was se
lected ns "coach of the year” by the
12 flouthonatcrn Conference coaches.

Charlie Trlppl will piny baseball
with either the Birmingham Barons
or the Atlanta Crackers.
The Georgia star reported that he
would not sign a professional base
ball contract Immediately and that
he planned to play In the Southern
Asaoclntlon.
"I plan to talk to Earl Mann
again,” Trlppl nnswered aquestion
concerning the possibility he will
play with the Crackers “I will sign
with either Atlanta or Birmingham.”
Birmingham reportedly has offer
ed Trlppl $10,000 to sign, $400 a
month and 50 per cent of his pur
chase price if sold to the big leagues.
If true, this betters the unconfirmed
Cracker bid of $5,000. However, a
cautioning word came from Trlppl
about the money he is supposed to
be making.
"Don't believe all those figures,”
warned the boy who came to Geor
gia *s an average high school play
er and blossomed Into the most
sought-after football star since Red
Qrnnge.
Charlie graduates In March with a

cided as to whether or not he will
barnstorm with a basketball team
made up of University of Georgia j
football teammates.
“I may do nothing but rest up un
til time to report to spring baseball
practice," Trlppl said.
