Webb Appointed To Preside
Over WSSF Contact Group
Bobo Webb, Leary, has been ap
pointed chairman of the World Stu
dent Service Fund camptus-wide con
tact committee, Donald Green, drive
chairman, announced.
Other officers are Herb Elliott,
chairman of the fraternity contact
committee; Larry Bennett, director
of the news release bureau; and Tom
Stubbs, acting director of editorial
research bureau.
Assistants in the drive are Der-
rell Mosely, Nick Crawford, Chenault
Hailey, Harry Sims, Pat Fitzgerald,
Ken Malsberger, Gordon Woodward,
Ken Lopcr, Ann Richards, Francis
Sasebee, and Lutrell Slaughter.
News bureau director Bennett
said that the presidents of all cam
pus organizations would soon be In
formed of the objectives of WSSF
and its activities.
The fund drive is slated to get
underway on campus Nov. 6. Of the
group’s total contributions, 90 per
cent comes from the U. S.
The money raised will be used to
aid European and Asiatic students
with medical supplies, and assistance
on self-help projects. Western Eu
ropean^ universities, however, are

it because of WSSF aid in the past.
This year’s goal is set at $175,000,
with $808,000 needed to carry out
all projects.
The organization's primary objec
tive is to aid the college students of
today, because they will be the lead
ers of the world in a few years, and
will hold a strategic position In the
world struggle.
Teachers Club Plans Meet
The Future Teachers of American
Club will holds its first meeting of
the year Oct. 16, 7 p.n^., at Peabody
Hall. A11 secondary education majors
are urged to attend this meeting
and the square dance that will fol
low.

this week. Selected to serve with him

MARTHA RAND, Atlanta, was
elected president of Phi Mu sorority
last week. Miss Rand, a senior, trans
ferred during her junior year from
Mary Washington College where she
was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma,
national honorary society.

initiated three pledges Wednesday
and Thursday. They are: Mary Luna
Cheek, Butler, Beth White, Blakley,
and Carole Wise, Winder.

has chosen its Pandora Beauty Re
view representative and Its sweet
heart. I
Diane Bennett, Waycross, will rep
resent the fraternity in the Beauty
Review. She is a junior and -a Phi
Mu pledge.
Julie Nolan, Brunswick, has been
chosen sweetheart of Alpha Tau
Omega. A freshman, she is a Chi
Omega pledge.
Pledge Dances Tonight
Chi Omega and Pi liea Pi sororities will hold traditional pladge
dances tonight.
The physical education building on Ag Hill will be the seene for
the Chi Omega formal with the Clemson Jungaleers furnishing the
music. Dance time is from 9-1.
Pi Beta Phi’s and their dates will
dance at the chapter house at 886
South Mllledge from 8-12. The occa
sion is semi-formal. Ray Warren and
his band will furnish the music.
