Scientist Calls Dog’s Tail
Useless f Caudal Extremity’
Science ha« proved that h cIok’h tail ha* no earthly uae. Though
a dog with a tail may be better looking than his bob-tailed relative,
he ia certainly no better off when it comes to walking a log
Results of research conducted by
Dr. A. 8. Edwards, former psychology
department head, show that a de
tailed hound has as much equilibrium
as a dog with his tall Intact. The
outcome of the research disproves
an old, widely-believed superstition
that If a dog grows up and suddenly
a dog biscuit, the hounds made the
trek successfully 17 out of 26 times.
Walks of varying widths from two
to three Inches were used In the three
separate tests.
Immediately after the tall amputa
tions the following day, the dogs
were tried out on the two Inch walk.
Both showed the same adeptness in
log crossing by again making 17 suc
cessful traverses out of 26 attempts.
Even the best dog trainers In
Ringllng Brothers Circus approve Dr.
Edward’s work. They stated that the
loss of a dog’s “caudal extremity Is
onerous only during fly swatting
season."

cross a log without falling.
Scientifically, according to Dr. Ed-1

as much log crossing ability after the
removal of the appendage as before.

Coordinated Dates
For Club Meetings
Studied by Leaders
Are too many campus activities
sapping the tree time of University
students because organisation meet
ing dates are not coordinated?
Club presidents apparently think
so.
Meeting under one roof for the
first time, the heads of nearly 100
student groups Wednesday night
weighed possible solutions to the
problem of club meeting times and
set machinery In motion to codify
their proposals.
The presidents, called together by
Nelle Tumlln, director of women's
activities, and John Cox, director of
men's activities, considered four basic
points—all relative to student organi
zations—and then named a slx-mem-
her committee to condense their sug
gestions and present them to the
Student Council.
The Student Council Is not em
powered to regulate student groups,
but may make recommendations.
The organization presidents con
sldered these points:
1. How can new students be bet
ter acquainted with campus organize
tions?
2. How ran organization meeting
times be better coordinated?
3. How can the efficiency of or
gaulzatlon officers he Improved?
4. What responsibilities do organ!
zatlon officers have to their groups
nnd to the University?
