Waterboy Cleg Holds Record
For Longest Service on Staff
Cleg Stark, Negro handyman and waterboy for the Bulldog ath-
letic teams, has probably been a member of the University staff long
er than any other person.
CAMPUS NEWS BRIEFS
No one seems to know Just when
Cleft joined the staff, but it is a cer
tainty that it was prior to the first
World War.
Cleg doesn’t know how old he is
since he "can't remember that far
fact that "Chick" Shiver could kick
a football 100 yards, after "Spud”
Chandler passed it 85 yards to him.
When asked about this year’s foot-
hair team, Cleg smiled and said he
thinks the boys have more spirit
than any previous Georgia team and
that he believes "this is the year
we will beat Tech by the scoreboard."
He said that the holdouts from last
year's team will go a long way to
ward making this a fine team.
When offered a Job as trainer for
a New York professional baseball
team, Cleg turned the offer down
because Chancellor Sanford prom
ised him a lifetime job at the Uni
versity.
One of the greatest thrills of the
|aged Negro’s life was when "Deacon”
Andy Griffith Of “What it Wuz, Wuz
Football” fame presented him with
a “Big Orange Drink” at the half
time of last year’s G-Day football
game.

When the decision was reached to
construct a new football studiutn on
the campus, Cleg traveled with
Chancellor Sanford all over the
country in search of a stadium after
which to model it.
Since coming to the University,
Cleg has worked for nine conches—
