This is the first time that a course
in personal appearance for both men
und women students lias been offered
at the University, points out Mrs.
Margaret lilair, head of the depart
ment of clothing and textiles of the
School of Home Economics.
The new course will be taught by
Miss Helen Knapp, a former member
of the faculty of the University of
Alabama. Miss Knapp has taught a
similar course in personal appearance
at Alabama for the past five years.
Students interested In taking Home
Economics 325 may register at the
beginning of spring quarter.

Approximately 5 00 students
from high schools and junior col
leges all over the state visited the
School of Home Economics for
Home Economics Day Friday.
A tour of Dawson Hall, where
classroom exhibits were displayed,
showed the students various phases
of the home economics program. Af
ter a tour of Myers Hall, the Univer
sity Grill, Home Management Houses,
the Nursery School and Infant Cen
ter, the visitors had lunch at Snell-
ing Hall.
"Through the Looking Glass,"
which was the theme for the event
was the skit which was written and
presented by students of the School
of Home Economics in Dawson Hatl
Auditorium to climax the day’s ac
tivities.
Greetings were extended to the vis
itors by Dr. Joseph A. Williams, as
sistant to the president, Dr. Mary
Speirs, dean of the School of Home
Economics, Miss Mary E. Creswell,
dean emeritus. School of Home Eco
nomics, Dr. J. Thomas Askew, dean
of students, and Mrs. Edith L. Stall
ings, dean of women.
Ki Yuli Lee, Korean graduate stu
dent in home economics, entertained
with several Korean songs.
Door prizes were awarded at the
close of the program. The prizes re
presented the different majors In
home economics.

Fashion Show Plans Completed;
Models To Appear on Television

Plans for the fashion show at Fine Arts Auditorium have been com
pleted. The show will be staged by the fashion promotion class in the
College of Business Administration and the clothing and technical
assistance will be furnished bv Davison’s of Athens.
The first scene, "A Morning in Nas
sau,” will feature an open-market
scene with vendors and individual
booths for their wares. Also, there
will be a beach scene with large um
brellas and deck chairs. This scene
will show the different types of
sports clothes for men and women.
The second scene. “An Afternoon
in Bermuda,” will take place in a
park and will feature the different
types of afternoon and street clothes
in the latest spring styles.
The third scene, "An Evening in
Havana,” will feature evening and
formal clothes. The scenery will be
a night club in Cuba.
Chi Omega's "Mile. Fifi's Perfume
Shop,” the University Men’s Glee
Club and the modern dance group
