In Intramural Play
Women’s intramural basketball,
bowling and badminton (Inal tourna
ments began this week, Marian Hop
kins, Women’s Athletic Association
publicity chairman, said Tuesday.
In the basketball tournament,
Soule Hall defeated Kappa Kappa
Gamma Tuesday night and Kappa
Alpha Theta won over South Myers
Tuesday afternoon.
Ilasketball intramurals will climax
with Kappa Alpha Theta meeting
Soule Hall this afternoon for the
tournament.
In the badminton tournament, two
semi-final matches will be between
Sara Wade and Georgia Vacalls,
Soule Hall, and Ann Smith and Peg
gy Delamater, Kappa Alpha Theta,
and between Mary Ellen Parker and
Barbara Fisher, Pi Beta Phi, and
Nancy Cooney and Marian Hopkins,
Kappa Alpha Theta.
Chi Omega will meet Kappa Delta
In the WAA intramural bowling fin
als; Kappa Alpha Theta and Phi Mu
will bowl in the consolation match.

As Birthday Brings G-Day Title

Carolann Conner, 19-year-old freshman from Atlanta, received the
surprise of her life Saturday when she was awarded the title of “Miss
G-Day” on her birthday at the annual G-Day dance in Ntegeman Hall.
Two Fraternities
List Sweethearts
For Coming Year
Mary Adelia Morley, Fort Mc
Pherson, and Lynett Ilankin, Dub
lin, were elected sweethearts of
Theta Chi and Tau Epsilon Phi
fraternities for the coming year.
Miss Morley was selected
sweetheart of Theta Chi at the
“Jack of Hearts” ball on February
12. A member of Kappa Alpha Theta
sorority, Miss Morley is a junior in
the School of Business Administra
tion. Prior to her election as sweet
heart. she represented Theta Chi in
the Miss Homecoming contest.
Tau Epsilon Phi chose Miss
Hankin as their new sweetheart at
their 36th Anniversary Dance on Feb
ruary 26. A sophomore education
major, Miss Hankin is rush chairman
for Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and
a member of Alpha Lambda Delta,
honorary society, and the University
of Georgia Religious Association.
The blonde, blue-eyed voice major
weighs 118 pounds, evenly distribut
ed over a five-foot, four-inch frame.
Her measurements are 37-24-36.
Miss Conner captured the title for
Chi Psi fraternity, which sponsored
the winning contestant in last year’s
contest.
An Alpha Delta Pi pledge, the
newly-crowned queen spends two
hours dancing every day and Is also
an ardent sports fan. Her favarite
sport is basketball. After graduation,
the pretty co-ed plans to devote her
time and talents to musical comedy.

Sigma; Kay Holloway, Atlanta, spon
sored by Kappa Kappa Gamma;
Phoebe Gould, Atlanta, sponsored by
Phi Delta Theta, and Dorothy V.
Wright, Winder, sponsored by Phi
Mu.
Kappa Tau Alpha Inducts
Five Journalism Students
Five new members have been
named to Kappa Tau Alpha, honor
ary fraternity for the top 10 per cent
fo»the journalism seniors, announced
Tyus Butler, faculty adviser, Tues
day.
The initiates are Gene Methvin,
Lonzie Dukes, Richard Williams, Kay
Sloan and Arthur Gignilliat.
The University group of KTA is
the Benjamin Hardy Chapter, named
for a graduate of the School of Jour
nalism who was author of Truman’s
Point Four Plan. A member of a
j prominent journalistic family. Hardy
was killed in an airplane crash in
(the Near East several years ago.
