Aero Club Offers Pilot
By J. J.
Students Interested In flying may obtain a private
pilot's license after 40 hours flying time as members
of the Aero Club, K. J. Dillon, president, has announced.
Two Piper J 3's owned by University students are
used during training. Dillon said. Student owners are
qualified pilots, one holding a commercial license.
Flight instruction at most airports averages about
$12 an hour, Dillon said. A student Aero Club mem
ber may receive the same instruction for $3
While 40 hours flying time Is required of the stu
dent desiring a license, Dillon pointed out that after
Newberry
only eight hours instruction a solo test is given. The
student may then work off the remaining hours re
quired for a license by flying alone at his convenience.
The planes are comparatively new and are inspected
and serviced regularly. Upon completion of required
flying time, any student wanting a license is given a
written and a practical flying test and is then issued
a private pilot's license.
Interested students may call LI 6-7524 or attend the
Aero Club meeting Oct. 18 at eight o'clock In Prof.
Lawrence J. Nachtrab’s office in C-J building.

WHAT’S
For solution, see
paragraph below.
A FLIGHT OF IMAGINATION prompted the Droodle
above—it’s titled: Flying saucer with Lucky-smoking
crew. But it’s a down-to-earth fact that Luckies taste
better than any other cigarettes—and for down-to-
earth reasons. First of all, Lucky Strike means fine
tobacco. Then, that light, mild tobacco is toasted to
taste even better . . . cleaner, fresher, smoother. So,
"Glurg shrdlu!” (In saucer language, that means,
“f or taste that’s out of this world, light up a Lucky!”)
