Genetics Seminar
For All Ag Schools
To Open Tomorrow
A genetics seminar including all
agriculture schools and depart
ments will begin tomorrow at 4:
p.m. in Conner Hall. The initial
meeting will he conducted by Dr.
•James L. Cannon, animal husban
dry instructor.
The seminar is open to all agri
culture faculty members and gradu
ate students and any other persons
interested in genetics.
This program is the first jointly
sponsored seminar to be held at the
University. Plans will be made at
tomorrow’s meeting for future meet- i
ings, which will be continued
throughout the year.
Future programs will be led by
staff members of the College of Ag
riculture and all Ag Hill schools and
departments. All programs will cen
ter on a phase of genetics.

ordinator of the seminar.
Music Appreciation Planned
Music Appreciation will feature a i
Mozart program Thursday at 8 p.m.
in the Chapel. Hugh Hodgson, music
department head, and Despy Karlas,
assistant music professor, will open
the program with a Sonata for two
pianos.

Scholarship Deadline Set
Nov. 4 wil be the deadline for
sophomore men to apply for the In
ter-Fraternity Council scholarship.
Dean of Men William Tate said to
day.
The $180 scholarship is open only
to sophomore men who spent three
quarters of their freshman year at
the University.
Application blanks for the scholar
ship may ire obtained in 111 Aca
demic, Tate said.
The scholarship will be awarded
on the basis of scholastic record, ex
tra-curricular activities and finan
cial need of applicants.

T. W. McKinley, Dairy Science
Club president, announced that the
club’s next meeting will be Tuesday,
from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
After the business meeting there
wil be an informal initiation of new
members. All dairy science majors
are urged to apply for membership
in the “Society of Yellow Dogs,” a
national dairy society.

University, Oglethorpe, Emory and
the State College of Business Admini
stration are meeting with the history
department of Agnes Scott this week.

Alpha Kappa l’si, professional
! business fraternity, held one of its
regular business meetings Tuesday
night.
Meetings are held every other
week and business meetings are al
ternated with professional gather
ings. Representatives of local busi
ness concerns and professors from
tilt* School of Business Administra
tion address the fraternity at the
meetings.
Plans are being made for a trip
to Kraft Paper Co. in Macon, Thom
as R. Merritt, master of ritual, said.

Spanish Club will meet tonight in
202 Park at 8:45 for the election of
officers.
Miss Johnnie Peterson, adviser,
said any student who speaks or
studies Spanish is eligible for mem
bership. New members will lie ac
cepted for membership tonight also.

The University livestock judging
team, coached by Dr. James L. Car
illon, will take part in a four-way
practice judging contest against
Tennessee, Clemson and Auburn at
Hardman Hall Saturday.
Members of the team are Louise
Pate, Royce Mosley, Robert Lowrey,
Jimmy Maner and David Vaughn.
Green To Speak Tuesday
Prof. Thomas F. Green, Law School, will present a lecture on John
Marshall, 18th century United States Supreme Court chief justice, in the
regular "Great Thinkers" series Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. in the Library audi
torium.
Paul E. l’fuetze, philosophy professor in charge of the series, today said
the lecture will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Marshall's birth.
The bicentennial celebration has been endorsed by John L. Green, presi
dent of the bar. Western Judicial Circuit.
Marshall is described by Pfuetze as a "famous jurist who did much to
shape our legnl process and constitutional theory.”
