To Replace Mathey
At Poultry Position
Dr. W. Malcolm lieid, Mon
mouth, III., former Pulbright re
search scholar and poultry re
searcher for Point Pour, has join
ed the poultry department, replac
ing Dr. William J. Mathey, who
resigned to accept employment in
private industry.
Dr. Reid received his B.S. degree
from Monmouth College in 1932. He
attended Heidelberg University in
Germany and later Kansas State Col
lege, where he received his M.S. in
1937 and his Ph.D. in 1941. He head
ed the biology department at Mon
mouth College from 1938 to 1951.
Dr. Reid is author of 37 scientific
papers dealing with poultry parasite
problems and physiology of hel
minths and marine invertebrates. He
is listed in American Men of Science
and Is a member of numerous profes
sional societies in the fields of para
sitology and zoology.

Three 'Ugly Men’ To Compete
In Service Fraternity Contest
Three candidates have entered the Ugly Man Contest sponsored
by Alpha Phi Omega, national service fraternity.
They are John Blau, Lawrence, N.
Y.; Albert Price, Atlanta, and
Charles Furtado, Hapeville.
The contest will close Nov. 16 with
Carolann Connor presenting awards
at the Palace Theater at 8 p.m.

two.
The contest Is still open for en
tries. Any candidate who wishes to
enter must submit a letter to APO.
There is no entry fee. Students, fac
ulty or staff members are eligible to
enter.
Landscape Students
Plan Extended Trip
Landscape architecture students
plan an extended field trip begin
ning Friday morning and lasting
through Sunday, C. E. Weren, assist
ant landscape architecture professor,
said today.
Students plan to see the gardens of
Roy E. Martin. The gardens were
designed by Hubert B. Owens, head
of the landscape architecture depart
ment.
Trip plans call for a tour of Ida
Cason Callaway gardens in Chipley
and the gardens of Mr. and Mrs. A.
N. Dykes.
. Saturday the group will see the
• 125-year-old Italian garden of Mr.
and Mrs. Fuller Callaway and Greek
revival houses in LaGrange Sunday.
They will also see the Monroe Nurs
ery in Atlanta.
Livestock Judges To Meet
The University Livestock Judging
Team will hold a practice Judging
contest with Clemson beginning at
7:30 a.m. Saturday at Hardman Hall.
It will end about 5 p.m. The team
is practicing for international compe
tition Nov. 25 in Chicago.
