Pep Rally Slated Tonight
A pep rally is planned tonight at 7 o’clock at Payne Hall. The pep
band will provide a musical atmosphere while the cheerleaders lead

Mike Gruber, Atlanta, was ap
pointed chief justice of Reed Hall
court Tuesday by the dormitory coun
cil. Bill Collins, Forsyth, and Wel
don Johnson, Jefferson, were also
appointed to the court. Jack Garrett
and Ted Hammock, proctors from
Thomson, were named court assist
ants.
Engineering Confab
Scheduled Tuesday
The first annual Engineering Con
ference will convene Tuesday in the
Dairy Science Building.
Purpose of the conference Is to

Ag Club Holds
Annual Debate
For Freshmen
The affirmative Ag Club fresh
man debate team won a debate in
Conner llall Thursday night. The
debate was sponsored by Ag Club.
Jerry Whiteside, Rockmart, and
Walter Futral, Griffin, composed the
winning team. Winston Johnson,
Valdosta, and Joe Glenn, Pelham, re
presented the negative team.
Debate question was: "Resolved:
That North Georgia is better adapt
ed for agricultural purposes than
South Georgia.”
Arguing for North Georgia, the af
firmative team said that it had high
er rainfall, more fertile soil, higher
crop yields and nearness to consump
tion areas.
The negative team argued that
South Georgia had land more suit
able for machinery, ability to pro
duce wider variety of crops, access
to seaports and more agricultural ex
periment stations.
Debate judges were Dr. C. K. Lau
rent, poultry department; Dr. T. H.
Rogers and Dr. Joel E. Giddens,
agronomy department. James Ward,
Ringgold, was In charge of the event.
