Riflemen Down Six Opponents
In Postal Shooting Competition
The University rifle teams were vietorious last week, defeating
six opponents. The three teams fired a total of 11,28!) points to 10,757
for the opposition.
The University's varsity team
chnlked up a total of 1,893 points to
top Lafayette College and Wofford
College. Lafayette tired 1,820 points
and the Wofford riflemen lilt the tar
gets for a score of 1,624,
The ROTC squad had a team
score of 1,863 which bested the 1,786
tired by the University of Notre
Dame, and also overcame a total of
1,840 points by the University of
Rhode Island John A. Ezzard, Ath
ens, was high scorer for the Univer
sity ROTC team with a 380.
The Pershing Rifles marksmen
also touched the win column by fir
ing 1,860 to better the 1,804 shot by
the Tulane University Pershing Rifle
team.
Pershing riflemen are currently
firing In the National William Ran
dolph llearst Rifle Tournament. The
squad has placed third for the last
two consecutive years in annual
competition.

Group To Lay Cornerstone Sunday

Set for Lutheran Chapel
Cornerstone laying service for Trinity Lutheran Chapel and Stu
dent Center, across from Myers hall, will be held Sunday at 5 p.m.
The Rev. Richard Deffner, pas
tor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will
conduct the service. Guest speaker
will be the Rev. Theo. G. Ahrendt,
pastor of Grace Lutheran Church,
Atlanta. Ahrendt worked with Lu
theran Btudents at the University
for several years before the local con
gregation was organized.

Museum of Art
Displays Work
By Englishmen
An exhibition entitled “Recent
British Lithographs” is on display
at the Georgia Museum of Art.
This exhibit will remain for the
next four weeks.
It consists of 30 lithographs by
10 leading English artists. The ar
tists represented in this display were
selected by the British Council.
Widely ' Known Artists
Henry Moore and Graham Suther
land are the most widely known of
the artists according to Museum offi
cials. Moore is represented by five
prints, all somewhat reminiscent of
the sculpture which has made him
world-famous.
Sutherland is also represented
by five works, completed be
tween 1948 and 1953. Sutherland is
an out-of-door artist and a great por
tion of his pictures deal with nature.
Exhibited Over World
The exhibit has been shown in
Great Britain, France and Italy. It
was first shown at the Biennale in
Venice during the summer of 1954.
Works for the exhibit were ob
tained for the Georgia Museum of Art
through the courtesy of the British
Embassy and by the Smithsonian In
stitute Traveling Exhibition Service.

The first University Men’s Glee
presented Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. at the

"Georgia Medley.” “Oklahoma,” a
popular Broadway musical, will be
the featured music of the concert.
This will include such songs as "The
Surrey with the Fringe on Top,”
Club concert of the year will be

the annual Stunt Night which will be
