WM. THOMAS LANGSTON, Aus
tell: ‘‘A coliseum would be nice. Of
course. I think that It should be com
plete with lions and tigers. Every
week we could have a grand spectac
ular In which a select group of fresh
men and any stray Tech students
could be thrown to the wild animals.
A program of gladiators could show
variety, One week a grand cowboy-
Indian light with real bullets and the
next week, a mass sword fight a la
three musketeers. Gladiators should
be chosen from fifth quarter fresh
men. To sum it all up, no, we don’t.”
FRANCES PAYNE, Gainesville: "I
believe that a coliseum is needed at
the University because there are
many occasions at which the student
body should be together as one
group. If chapel programs could be
arranged at least once a month, with
the student body in attendance, we
would feel more like a unit.”

FAYE SMITH, Amerlcus: ”1 think
the coliseum is a good idea. We need
a larger pluce for public gatherings,
campus-wide activities, derbies and
other meetings. The University seems
to have outgrown its present accom
modations. I believe the need for a
coliseum is as vital ns any of our
present needs.”

GAFFNEY RLALOCK, Jonesboro:
"The need for a science center and
other academic facilities on the Uni
versity campus is certainly greater
than the need for a coliseum for a
student body that seldom assembles
all In one group. The University is
struggling to maintain and expand
what we desperately need without
having to finance a coliseum.”
JERRY PURCELL, Savannah: "I
think a coliseum at the University
would serve no purpose except to
make Athens more like its namesake,
Athens, Greece. There are many
other places where the money could
be spent and be of more value to
Athens, the University and the state.”

MARCY STROTHER, Perry: ”1
think u coliseum at the University
is not necessary. There are very few
times when the entire student body
would he assembled for any one ac
tivity on thiB campus. Also, there
are many more immediate needs such
as a new chemistry building, new
dormitories and a transportation sys
tem from Ag Hill to main campus.”
JON ROCHE, Winnetka. 111.: “I
believe that a coliseum would bo very
beneficial to the University. The fact
has been brought out that, because
of inadequate facilities, we hnve not
been able to benefit from different
concerts."

CLAIRE SMITH. Griffin: "I think
the coliseum Is one of the best ideus
1 have heard. It Is a good medium
for bringing about unity among the
students. The catnpus-wlde spirit as
a whole would bo greatly improved.
It Is also evident that many other
things are needed on this campus,
such as transportation, higher teach
ers' salnries and larger classrooms."

Students Split Opinions on Coliseum For Various State Drug Stores
By Connie Hayes and Ed Tolas
There Ims been some talk of a coliseum being constructed at the University. When asked, “Do you
think a coliseum is needed? If not, why? If so, what are your reasons and how badly do you think the
coliseum is needed in comparison with other needs at the University?,” eight students had divided
opinions.
Pharmacy Professors W. Frank Dobbs and J. P. LaRocca are con
ducting seminars throughout the state for several drug stores. Dobbs
and LaRocca will present their three-hour short course in Augusta
Nov. 17 and in Savannah Nov. 18.
