Bulldogs End Losing Streak

Commodores To Invade Woodruff
TYSON
Support Fine,
Cheers Stink
I am amazed that Georgia’s bas
ketball fans have supported so
staunchly the squad this year
Big, enthusiastic crowds have at
tended all home games, despite
the fact that the Bulldogs only
broke a 10 game losing streak
last Monday against Florida.
Each home game lost hy the team
was a close one except the Alabama
game. However, Jerry Harper satis
fied tans with his
exhibition of how
tlie center position
should be played—
and that he did.
Those close ones
might have disap
pointed many fans,
but the losses d
n’t disgust them.
I suspect that
many expected the
Georgia cagers to,
break loose in al
most any ball game as they did
against Florida. I certainly believed
they were going to do so, and I
think they will make highly ranked
Vanderbilt hustle Saturday night.

Saturday Game
To Pit Georgia
Against f andy
The most attractive panto on
Georgia’s home slate is on, tap for
Saturday when Vanderbilt, tamer
of the Kentucky Wildcats and
SEC leader, visits Woodruff Hall
at 8 p.m.
By dumping the Wildcats who
were previously ranked third in the
nation, the Commodores took undis
puted first place in the loop with a
6-0 record last week. Alabama is also
undefeated in conference play but
has won only four games.
Vandy, themselves ranked fifth
nationally, boasts the best balanced
team in the south and have taken
the Bulldogs into camp 14 of 15
times since the formation of the con
ference.
Coach Bob Polk is expected to
open with an all veteran group con
sisting of Bob Thym, 6-1, and Joe
Gibbs, 6-6, at forwards, Charlie Har
rison. 6-7, at center, and A1 Rochelle,
6-0, and Babe Taylor, 6-1, at the
| guard posts.

Lousy Cheerleaders
Outside Woodruff Hall being a
second rate dairy barn, the major
complaint I have this season is the
lousy cheerleading.
I thought football cheerleading was
on the bottom rung, but compared
to what I have seen at home basket
ball games it was high up the lad
der. 1 personally wish the leaders
would sit in the stands rather than
embarrass the attending student body
with their outmoded antics.

Danny Minor, both all-state

Billy Joe Thompson. He was all-

Seasonal and all time records were
rewritten by Coach Harbin Lawson’s
victory starved five. Georgia's out

record of 26. The most astounding
feat, however, was the team effort of
lit straight free throws without a

moments of the second hulf. The
