The pine paneled library is dedi-

the Georgia Chi Psis, Fair Dodd.
Five Dodd brothers attended the
University in the early 1900's. Fair,
the oldest, graduated in 1900. His

Plans are under way to black top
the parking lot and build a patio
adjacent to the recreation room.
Landscaping and construction should
be completed by this summer.

Having "recuperated" from Greek
Week activities, most of us are reudy
to enjoy parties and events which
will take place this weekend.
To start the weekend's excite
ment, kites will be flying on Ag Hill
Friday afternoon as the Thetas hold
their Kite Day. After the contest,
everyone is invited to a lawn concert
and open dance later that night.
The Phi Delta are having their
big Sword and Shield weekend Fri
day and Saturday. The popular
“Clovers” will add a touch of color
to the festivities.
• • •
THEIR FORMAL DANCE will be
held at the Georgian Hotel from 8
until 12. During the evening the
Phi Delt sponsor for 1960-61 and
her court will he announced. A
breakfast will follow the dance.
Lake Wellbrook will be the scene
for a fun-filled jam session Saturday
afternoon. That night Phi Delts and
their dates will enjoy a semi-formal
party at the Moina Michael Audito
rium.
The KA’s are playing "cowboys”
thiB weekend at their Cowboy rush
party. The Del Arcodos from Char
lotte, N. C.. will provide the enter
tainment for their dance Friday
night at Parsons.
• • •
SATURDAY MORNING the KA’s
will have to rise early in order
to keep their softball date with the
Chi O's. This game will be for the
rushees’ benefit.
Walt Allen and his combo will
play at High Shoals that afternoon.
The jam session and dance that night
is open to the campus.
Kappa Sigma is sponsoring their
Black and White Saturday. An open
jam session featuring the fabulous
"Drifters” is first on the agenda.
That night the Drifters will sing at
; the closed formal and the Kappa
i Sig sweetheart and her court will
| be presented.
Last, but not least, the SAEs are
having a Mother-Father Day at their
house. After their banquet that at-
1 ternoon, the boys and their fathers
will attend the G-Day game. The
womenfolk will attend a "Minerva j
i Club” meeting.
The weekend looks very promising
party-wise. Enjoy yourselves!

EUROPE MADE SIMPLE: No. 1
Summer vneation is just around the corner, nnd naturally all of
you are going to Europe. Perhaps I can offer a handy tip or
two. (I must confess I have never been to Europe myself, but
I eat a lot of Scotch broth nnd French dressing, so I am not
entirely without qualification.)
First let me say that no trip to Europe is complete without
a visit to England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France, Germany,
Spain, Portugal, Italy, Lichtenstein, Holland, Belgium, Switzer
land, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Po
land, Czechoslovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia,
Greece, Yugoslavia, Albania, Crete, Sardinia, Sicily, Hungary,
Romania, Bulgaria, Lapland, and Andorra,
let us take up these countries in order. First, Englnnd.
The capital of England is Iondon—or Liverpool, as it ia
sometimes called. There are many interesting things to see in
London—chiefly, the changing of the guards. The guards are
changed daily. The old ones are thrown away.
Another “must” while in London is a visit to Buckingham
Palace. Frequently in the afternoons Her Majesty the Queen
comes out on the balcony of the palace and waves to her loyal
subjects below. The loyal subjects wave back at the Queen.
However, they only continue to wuve as long a« Her Majesty
is waving. This of course is the origin of wave lengths from whiuh
we have derived numerous benefits including radio, television
and the A&P Gypsies.
Be sure also when you arc in Ixindon to visit the palace of
the Duke of Marlborough. Marlborough is s]>elled Marlborough,
but |>ronounccd Marlboro. English spelling is very quaint but
terribly disorganized. The late George Bernard .Shaw, author of
Jo's Iloys, fought all his life to simplify English spelling. He
once asked a friend, “What does g-h-o-t-i spell?" The friend
pondered a bit and replied, “Goatee." Shaw sniggered. "Pshaw,”
said Shaw. "G-h-o-t-i docs not spell goatee. It spells fish. Oh
as in enough, o as in women, ti us in motion."
It must be remembered, however, that Shaw was a vegetarian
—which, ail in all, wws probably a good thing. As Disraeli once
remarked to Guy Fawkes, "If Shaw were not a vegetarian, no
Iamb chop in London would be safe.”
But I digress. We were speaking of the palace of the Duke of
MarlWough—or Marl Wo, as it is called in the United States.
It is called Marlboro by every smoker who knows flavor did
not go out when filters came in. Be sure you are well supplied
with Marlboros when you make your trip abroad. After a long,
tiring day of sightseeing, there is nothing so welcome as a fine,
flavorfu! MarIWo and a foot bath with hot Epsom salts.
Epsom salts can be obtained in England at Epsom Downs.
Kensington salts can lie obtained at Kensington Gardens, Al
bert salts can be obtained at Albert Hall, Hyde salts can lie
obtained at Hyde Park, and the crown jewels can lie obtained
at the Tower of London.
Well sir, now you know all you need to know about England.
Next week we will visit the Land of the Midnight Sun—France.

And you also know all you need to know about smoking:
Marlbttro, if you want the best of the filter cigarettes—Philip
Morris U you want the best of the unfiltered cigarettes.
