Cox Suggests Plan
For Traffic Woes;
Campus Bus Line
John Cox, Director of Student Acti
vities, informed The Red and Black
Tuesday that a proposal for a much
needed intercampus transit system
was defeated by students a few years
ago.
The proposed transit system would
have eliminated the present diffi
culties of comtnuting from north to
south campus and vice-versa.
Many proposals have been made
in regard to the parking problem
on the campus, among them an off
campus parking area with a bus line
connecting it with the campus, a
multi-story building for added park
ing spaces on north campus possibly
near Memorial Hall, and a change
in regulations to require sophomore
students to live on campus without
driving privileges.
The parking problem has been
alleviated Bomewhat by the construc
tion of additional parking lots on
south campus near the new science
centers and the paving of Stegeman
parking lot.
