The Bulldogs will take the floor
with a perfect SEC mark. Georgia’s
hardwood crew has won three straight
conference games to gain a three way
tie for the first spot in the con
ference with Mississippi State and
Florida.
The Bulldogs own a 6-7 overall re
cord this season and hold a slight
edge over the defending SEC cham
pion Auburn, who has a 1-2 record in
the conference.

Honor Pro Greats
The Georgia Bulldogs will honor
their galaqy of professional football
stars at a banquet Thursday night
at the Athens Country Club.
The Georgia Bulldog Clubs
throughout the state and south, each
of whom will be represented by a
delegation, will be the hosts.
Bob Walston, dean of ex-Bulldogs
in the pro ranks, wil be the keynote
speaker. Walston who led the SEC
in pass-receiving as a sophomore at
Georgia in 1948, Just completed his
10th season with the Philadelphia
Eagles and was an important cog in
their march to the National Football
League championship. Other ex-

son who will be honored are: Art
Decarlo, Zeke Bratkowski, Roy
Wilkins, Jimmy Orr, Dave Lloyd,
Bobby Towns, Charley Britt, Gorden
Kelley, Nat Dye, George Hansen, Bill
Herron, Don Soberdash, John Carson,
Bob Sedlock, Marion Campbell,
Theron Sapp, and Riley Gunnels.

Phillip Simpson is leading the crew
with a 15.1 average. Little Allan
Johnson is second with a 13.7 aver
age followed closely by Don Reiser
with a 13.6 total. John Johnson is

Miller is next with a 10.9 average.

in Saturday’s SEC tilt, Auburn has
two things going for them: the much
publicized and difficult to stop
Auburn shuffle; and the Tigers, rated
as a pre-season favorite in the SEC.

confuse Auburn’s shuffle offense by
jamming the middle near the basket
on the Tigers and varying his de
fense from the zone to a man-to-man.
"Georgia,” said Auburn basketball

ways dangerous and Coach Lawson
always comes up with some new de
fense to try and stop our shuffle.”

Georgia’s basketeers, following an impressive come-from-behind
victory over improved Alabama are now tied for the SEC lead with
Florida and Mississippi State with a conference record of .'1-0.

when Georgia met Tulane in Wood

home away from home to play the
Alabama Crimson Tide In Columbus.
With n defeat seemingly ut the hands
of an Improved Tide five, the Bull
dogs bounced back with Iobs than
nine minutes remaining to win 62-57.
Pat Dye and Francis Tarkenton
were honored during half time of the
Georgtu-Oeorgla Tech basketball
game last Wednesday for their out
standing play during the football sea
son.
Tarkenton received the Associated
tress All-American award, and Dye
received the Sports Illustrated award
for outstanding lineman of the week
for his performance against Tech In
the season final.
Dye received the first J. B. Whit
worth Memorial Trophy in Columbus
last Saturday for the lineman of the
year award on the Georgia team. He
will be honored by the Atluuta Touchy
down Club Saturday as the SEC line
man of the year.

WOMENS INTRAMURAL Basket
ball will hegin January 26 and con
tinue through February 23. All
games during winter quarter will be
gin at 4 p.m.

AN ALL-TIME high of 62 teams
are entered in the men's intramural
basketball competition this winter.

RIVALRY between Georgia and
Tech will be at a peak Saturday when
the Bulldog gymnastics squad goes to
Atlanta to meet the Yellow Jackets.

THE GEORGIA rifle team makes
Its season debut nt Tech Friday after
noon at 2:00. Saturday the team
will return home to meet Tennessee.
Wrestler* Drop Two Meet*
The Georgia Rulldogs wrestling
squad got off to a shaky start this
season but Is already showing signs
of improvement.
In the season opener, the Auburn
Tigers rolled over the 'Dogs by a
score of 24-6, but the margin of
defeat narrowed in the Sewanee
