Religion In Life Group Selects
Topics 9 Speakers For Week
During Religion in Life week, February 5-10, eleven speakers will
diseuss sueh subjects as. “The, Case for Honesty,” “The Arts-Mirror
of Man, “(ioren and God,” “Our Responsibility for Nuclear Warfare,”
“Murder vs. Suicide,” “The Problem of Believing,” and “Encounter
with world revolution.”
These topics will try to deal with
the need for decision on the part of
the individual, the need for commit
ment, the need to accept responsi
bility rather than retreat into the
darkness of security.
The speakers and their fields of
interests are as follows: Philosophy
and Religion, Dr. Rollin Armour,
professor in the department of reli
gion and philosophy at Stetson Uni
versity; Religion and contempory
culture, Mr. Arthur Brandenburg,
Chaplain to the Methodist students
at Duke; Religion in education,
Sister Mary Felicitas. principal of
Mount de Sales High School in Ma
con; and, Theology, history and phi
losophy, Rev. J. Donald Graham, min
ister of the Memorial Christian
Church in Forest Park.
In addition to these discussions,
“Countdown” on Channel 2 W.S.B.
T-V will feature further aspects on
the subject on Sunday, February 5
at 10:30 am. On Tuesday February
7 at 10:00 p.m. on Channel 8 W.G.
T-V a similar program will be shown.
Student Group To Hear
City Planner’s Address
Howard Schretter, Athens City
Planner, will address the Univer
sity's Real Estate Society on Feb.
ruary 8. The meeting will be
held in room 4.14 of Memorial Hal!
at 7 p. m.
The Society, which was formed
in 1958, is made up mainly of real
estate majors and members of the
school.
WSGA Schedules Election
Nominations for officers of the
Womens Student Government Asso
ciation have been announced.
Chosen by the Dean of Women’s
staff and present officers of WSGA,
these candidates show outstanding
leadership qualities and scholastic re
cords.
Candidates for president are
Winki Booker, Glenda Elliott, and
Amy McGuire. Vice-president nomi
nees are Jane Harrell, WinBton
Stevens, and Ward Turner.
Judy Alexander, Janice Bergman,
and Linda Carstarphen are vying for
secretary; and Ann Goowln, Ann
Lawton and Larkio Sima are running
for treasurer.
The election will be held on Tues
day, February 21.
