EVERYONE WANTS
GLAMOUR magazine has announc
ed the start of the fifth “Ten Best
l)i eased College Girls in America"
contest. The University of Georgia
has been invited by the magazine to
help the editors find these ten out
standing young women by selecting
the best dressed girl on campus.
THE RED AXD BLACK will spon
sor this contest which will be held
February 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the
Alpha Chi Omega sorority house.
Sororities, women’s dormitories, and
Triquetra are invited to enter a girl
in the contest. Each girl will he
asked to model three outfits from hei
wardrobe including an on-campus
outfit, a daytime off-campus outfit
and a party dress (full or cocktail
length). Judges will be five local
merchants who are experts in the
field of women’s clothes.
The judging standards which will
be used are; 1. Good figure and
posture. 2. Clean, shining, well-
kept hair, 3. Imagination In manag
ing a clothes budget. 4. Impeccable
grooming. 5. Appropriate campus
look (in line with local customs).
6 A clear understanding of her
fashion type. 7. Individuality in
her use of color, accessories. 8. A
workable wardrobe plan. 9. A neat
way with make-up (pretty but not
overdone). 10. Appropriate look
for off-campus occasions.
The young woman who best meets
these qualifications will be entered
in Glamour’s national contest in com
petition with “best dressed on-
campus” winners from hundreds of
colleges throughout the United States
and Canada. Three pictures of her
in the three outfits used in the con
test will be submitted with the offi
cial entry form to the magazine toi
the national judging by a panel of
Glamour editors. The ten winners
and the "honorable mention” win
ners will be notified by wire of their
selection.
The ten young women who are
named Glamour’s "Ten Best Dressed
College Girls in America” will be
photographed for the annual August
College Issue and will spend two
weeks in New York in June as guests
of the magazine. The “honorable
mention” winners will be featured in
fall issue of Glamour.
