student having suggestions as
to how registration can be
speeded up and still maintain
accuracy, to write him con
cerning the plan.
The University also allows
its students to pay fees before
leaving Stegeman Hall, but if
the student prefers, he can put
a check in a fee envelope and
leave it at the treasurer's of
fice anytime during registra
tion day or until noon the day
following registration without
penalty.
Most other schools ques
tioned spread the paying pro
cedure out over several days,
but required students to pay at
a window. Although students
were assigned certain hours on
certain days to pay fees most
schools said there was some
waiting in line to pay.
Oracle Reports
Grade reports from the Uni
versity are sent within 24
hours after the grades are re
ceived which is usually about
two days after the exam per
iod ends.
Mr. Danner said, "Every
effort is made to get the grades
to the parents before the stu
dents leave home to come back
for another quarter, so that
those students who have been
excluded for academic reasons
will not make an unnecessary
trip to Athens.”
He said that most of the
schools questioned said it took
them anywhere from three
days to two weeks to get re
ports out.
Student Directory
It was noted that the stu
dent directory was taken di
rectly from the IBM forms this
year whereas in years past it
has been reset in type in a
straight line. Some had felt
that the bunched up form that
comes out of the IBM machine
was not suitable.
Comer Whitehead, head of
the IBM office at the Univer
sity said, “Our department got
the Blue Key to try taking it
from the IBM copy this year.
Consequently, we were able to
get the student directory
printed nearly two months
earlier.”

Most other colleges ques
tioned said that they took the
information for their student
directories directly from the
IBM copy.
The other schools questioned
in the survey include: Univer
sity of Tennessee, University
of North Carolina, Florida State
University, University of North
Dakota, University of Toronto,
