Sunday night, just before
press time, I heard that the
Alpha Omieron I’i house had
its homecoming display set
afire. I called and spoke with
one of niv “reliable sources”
who explained the story to
me. So naturally I had to re-j
write my weekly profile to |
include the events this me
morable night.
At 12: 45 a.m.
a Hlstcr shouted 1
"Fire!" or some
equally exciting
remark and the
h o a s o was
thrown into an
uproar. Diane

nearby towel bar. Now that’s
what I call good reflexes.
The women then called the
fire department and the hos
pital, respectively; and the
night's misadventure shifted
into high gear. Diane was taken
to the hospital by two sisters;
In i nose was relocated, and the
three headed back for AOPI.
The campus police, looking
for arsonists, deemed the sis
ters' cur susplclouslooking and
followed It to the driveway of
the house. At this stage they
explained their nocturnal Jour
ney, smiled, and went inside to
go to sleep.
Now this writer slides back
into his original story. Just as
a brief panorama of last Mon
day's events when I dined with
the AOPi's, I will hit briefly
upon a variety of subjects.
There were Diane Yow and
Alice Gilbert singing a medley
of cheery lyrics about topics
ranging from “AOPi’s Don’t
Neck” to the darkening pro
blem in schools today. Carol j
Weaver told me a poignant sto
ry about a charm on her brace
let only for me to find out later
that she makes up better Sto
ries than I do. Alice Rrown
told me what was what around
the house, and then the girls
explained about Alice and her
nickname of Foghorn.
I asked my secret source if
the girls had taken precautions
to guard their display before
tlie judging. She explained that
three girls had kept watch all
Friday night with a big cow
bell as protection. It seems that
if trouble developed, the bell
would sound and signal all the
sisters to run downstairs with
rollers in their hair and with
out make-up . . . and scare the
intruders to death
