“Some people feel that
cheering in the stands just
doesn’t seem to be the thing
to do.” “If they would just
let themselves go a little and
yell”. “I don’t see how they
can sit still, but the specta
tors don’t find it hard to
do.”
These are some of the com
ments made by Norma Wrig-
ley, captain of cheerleaders.
She says that the University
is lacking in the spirit that
other schools have.
She also added, ‘‘Next year I
will feel funny sitting in the
stands, because this year, as a
cheerleader, I yell as much as
possible. I wonder if I will do
the same when I am a specta
tor, considering the attitude
most of the student body has
about cheering in the stands.
‘‘The only times the students
cheer their team is at the pep
rallies,” she continues, "which
have been better each week.
The Auburn pep rally is the
best we’ve had this year. There
were more than 1000 present.”
Prior to being elected cap
tain of the cheerleaders. Miss
Wrigley Berved as their secre
tary-treasurer. Her other ac
tivities include Bulldog Club,
English Club, Kappa Kappa
Gamma Panhellenic delegate,
and Newman Club. She is a
senior from Atlanta majoring
in English.
