a "Chicken Feed" at Charlie
Williams’ this Sunday at 4 p.m.
For $1 students and faculty
members will receive a meal
of southern fried chicken,
homemade salads and home
made desserts.
Jon liraun, Eastern regional
director of Campus Crusade,
will he the main speaker. Uni
versity footballers Dickie Phil
lips, Marvin Tootle and cheer
leader Linda Wood are also
scheduled to give talks.
Tickets are being sold on
campus by Crusade members.

Rhodesian Expert
To Present Lecture
Aubrey Rivers-Bulkeley will be guest lecturer at a meet
ing of Young Americans for Freedom Thursday, 8 p.m.,
in Demosthenian Hall.
The subject of his speech
will be “Background and Pro
jection: Rhodesian Independ
ence."
Rivers-Bulkeley worked in
Rhodesia as an employee of
the Standard Oil Co., and as a
senior partner in a company
Rhodesian industries.
The company trained Afri
cans for industrial employment
and established markets for
Rhodesian and foreign manu
facturers.
He attended the University
of London where he specialized
in continental Africa, its early
history, economic development,
political structure and tribal
characteristics.
Rivers-Bulkeley came to the
which specialized In developing "U- S- in 1961 and settled in
Atlanta, where he now lives
with his wife and two sons.
He is currently employed by
the C&S National Bank and is
writing a hook provisionally
entitled “Reluctant Empire,”
which examines the develop
ment of British sovereignty in
overseas territories since the
early seventeenth century.

Sponcler and Gail Lavender.
President Cochran said that
"the cluli will not support any
specific candidates in the up
coming Democratic primary,
but will work on building
grass-roots party support. Once
the party’s candidates are se
lected, we will work for their
election.”
Next year, the young Demo
crats plan to start work on an
on-campus memorial for late
President John F. Kennedy,
who spoke at University com
mencement in June, 1957.
Philaretos, honorary organi
zation for junior and senior
men, initiated new members
at its spring banquet Sunday,
May 8.
They are: Bob Fort, Carl
Swearingen, John Anderson,
Peter Wright, David Olliff,
Larry Young and Michael
Peck.
Members chosen must have
an 88 academic average or
above. They are chosen also
on the basis of outstanding
extracurricular activities.
John Anderson had the
highest cumulative average
among the new members with
a 95.6.
Newly-elected as president is
David Olliff, a senior from
Douglas. Bob Fort, a junior
from Newberry, S. C„ was
elected secretary-treasurer.
