ming test and pay five dollars and quarter lor mem
bership fees.

Girl of the Week
Beverlv Finnigcr, known to her friends as
simply Beverly, is the "Girl of the Week."
20, a senior, and hailing from Dayton, Ohio
by way of Rochester, New York. Beverly is
a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She
is majoring in advertising and public rela
tions, but likes horses as well. But though
a skier. Bev still doesn’t call herself the
athletic type. She can now add the title of
“Girl of the Week” to her other honors, such
as Sweetheart of Pi Kappa Alpha.

The Sailing Club is attempt
ing to recruit new members

Summer Quarter The organiza
tion already has sixty students
who became interested last
quarter
The group is also seeking af
filiation with one of the more
pmminent national sailing asso
ciations in order to stimulate
cumpetiuve sailboating
Although the club is presently
without a boat, the group hopes
to be able to purchase one to
ward the middle of August
They managed to persuade
the University to add $1200 to
the club's treasury
Mike Garner is the group's
official Commodore, however.
Mike Williams willl serve as
acting commodore for the Sum
mer Quarter
Mike was formerly a member
of the Florida State University-
Sailing Club, which had over
150 members. Sally Stites. a
University student, will serve
as Secretary.

Linker Becomes Foreign Language Head
Dr Robert W Linker has
been nam**d head of the Depart
ment of Romance languages
at the University, the College
of Arts and Science's has an
nounced.
Dr Linker will succeed Dr
.1 W Hassell Jr who has

leaching and research duties
in the department.

Plan Location

“Twin Cinemas is coming to
Athens. Sol Abrams, owner of the
Beechwood Cinema, announced
the plans for a twin cinema com
plex to be located on the cor
ner of Baxter and Church streets.
Abrams said construction will
begin “in about six or eight
months" just as soon as Southern
Bell can build a new warehouse*
and vacate the premises.
Although a name for the com
plex has not been determined.
Abrams said ' we ll go all the
way in providing first class ac
comodations."
The theaters will share a com
mon lobby and will to* furnished
with the latest in theater equip
ment. including rocking chair
seats.
He cited several benefits of
bringing twin cinemas to Athens.
First." he said, "twin cinemas
will allow us to play road shows
in one side and movies in the
other. Too. we will book art
shows in one of the theaters and
conventional movies at the same
time."
“We feei this will be a wel
come addition to Athens." he
said. "The availability of tirst-
rate films in the Athens area will
be enchanced by the new ar
rangement."
The theaters will locate within
a bl*H*k of over 3.000 students liv
ing in Creswell. Russell, and
Brumbv Halls.
