Griffin Coed Holds Job
As Stegeman Secretary
Hardly a day passes that
Miss Vera Ann Zager isn't
invited to hand out towels in
the men's locker room at
Stegeman Hall
But so far.'' says Miss
Zager. breaking into a smile,
"I've managed to restrain
myself.”
Miss Zager. a sophomore
from Griffin, is an English
major in secondary education
and a member of Sigma Kap
pa sorority. She works part-
tune as a secretary for Coach
Eugene Detullio. supervisor
for physical education student
teachers
On her first day of employ
ment last winter quarter, this
attractive young lady, not
knowing what to expect,
practically crept into Stege
man
I was surprised to find
myself working in the men's
physical (‘duration building.
Miss Zager recalls, “yet I
thought it would certainly be a
good way to meet people
All eyes fall on Miss Zager
when she walks into Stege

cept my being there now,"

To 15 Women

lions, pledged 15 new mem
bers recently
Bids were issued following a
rush party yesterday in the
Journalism Building reading
room.

Coach Detullio encourages
Miss Zager to keep well in
formed on all sports

her for the basketball team
Terry Vacallis, teacher of
Judo, thinks she would do
much better as a judo expert
And the football players
feel certain that she should
spend all of her time typing
their term papers
But Miss Zager says she
specializes in secretarial
work, and knows her job well
Once football coach Mike
Castronis came in complaining.
because he never got any
letters Miss Zager tvped a
short note with "This is a
letter at the end and put
it in his mail box He
was so overwhelmed he was
late for his class because he
gave me a ride to mine "
Miss Zager says she knew
nothing about sports last
year “Now I feel I could
coach the basketball team,”
she declares
Perhaps Miss Zager
couldn t coach a basketball
team, but her job has in
creased her interest in sports.

Genesis II. a two hour
collection of award-winning
experimental films, will be
presented b; the University
Union's film committee
Thursday and Friday in the
South Auditorium of the JPC
Complex.

Before Genesis, many inde
pendent and student film
makers lacked an outlet for
their products The idea be
hind Genesis was to assemble
the best new films available
and distribute them across
the country on a profit-shar
ing basis for the film makers.
In Genesis, films exist as
creative art forms rather
than as pure entertainment

up with her outside reading

Most women who return to
college alter graduation do so
either for personal enrich
ment or to update their em
ployment potential
Mrs. Kathryn Ashcraft of
Ohio State University’s
School of Home Economics
said a recent survey showed a
majority of women graduates
were interested in returning
for refresher courses and
graduate work in their profes
sion
She said the increase in
school enrollment of adult
women of all ages was "phe
nomenal.’’
Dr. Hatcher To Talk
About Birth Control
Dr Rohert Hatcher, director of the family planning program
at Emory University, will speak on birth control Tuesday. Nov
18 in Uk- North Auditorium Of the .IPO Complex
His speech will be followed by a segment of the film, "Be-.
yond Conception, and a panel discussion
Hatcher will speaker on birth control from the medical
standpoint His speech will cover the effects and effectiveness
of different birth control methods, the psychological implica
tions and lho myths surrounding birth control. In accordance with
University Union policy, the program will offer a neutral view
point towards the subject.
The panel will consist of Dr. Hatcher, Mrs Peggy Moyer,
director of nursing at the University Helath Services; Dr Rob
ert Lewis, professor of a family relations course in the home
economics department; and Dr. Steve King of the University
Health Services Students will be able to ask the panel ques
tions verbally or write them on cards handed them as they
come in the door
The Union is charging no admission to the program.
